Thank you, Julide!

IMO the colors are identical, really. (Except that you lose some richness in cotton...) Just guessing - what makes the difference is the translucence - you get a feeling of layers and from that you get a little more hint of color. Also, because it's just so big the white/blue braiding takes more of a center stage, like in the gorgeous brodés upthread.

I've given up on actually seeing any navy in the background.

Oh, the pareo also subs in some white backgrounds, which is pretty but I am trying to figure out how to tie in:

The three that immediately came to mind for me are: Robe du Soir, Mors et Gourmettes Vichy, and Mustangs Bandana (or any of the bandanas, really). All have a youthful/Western vibe IMO.

If they already love H scarves, then I'd take a look at what their personal styling is. (Not all of us who live in TX are interested in Western styling...some of us not even a little.....:p)

Pocket squares might also be a good way to go. Young, fresh, easy to wear and heatwave friendly....

Wow. Pics like this could take SOTD to a completely new level.

Thanks, bunnycat....she is a pretty sophisticated young woman, fairly formal, but I don’t know which scarves a 21 year old would enjoy....I think my friend (that is who asked my advice) wants to buy her a classic and memorable piece for her graduation.

If you can find the Houston commemorative scarf by Kermit Oliver, that might be a nice one for framing, especially if she isn’t planning to stay in Texas after graduation..a nice souvenir, maybe. Another visually stunning design is the Canadian scarf from fall, if you can still find one. I like Robes du Soie since it is very Hermes (horsey) yet contemporary (clean lines and bright colors), but only if she likes horse designs. If your friend is willing to go vintage, I second the idea of getting one with a theme that she likes or related to her degree, especially since Hermes has done so many random themes over the years (swing dancing, golf, boating, race cars, food, spices, etc etc etc).

Iris seems particularly versatile to me: youthful yet classic, both formal and fun, especially in gavroche format.

That would be my pick, especially if I didn't know the person's style well enough to guess if they swing Napoleon, Circuit 24 Faubourg, or H Comme Hermes.

Hi katekluet!
A suggestion could also be the Omnibus remix from this season. A classic pattern (the first scarf pattern Hermes ever did) with the stripes. There are so many pretty colors to choose from and timeless. I can see an 18 year old to a 90 year old looking great in this scarf. It may be a nice first piece, as well.
