I bought the greenish Zebra after passing at Heathrow yesterday. It's a really lovely scarf and the emerald is amazing.

I can kind of understand the store manager’s (or whoever places an order) tactics here. Every market is different and no one wants to have unsold items that are ‘unpopular.’ At the same time, I wonder how many of these decisions are made out of laziness. ‘No brown scarves ever’ seems like a maxim someone decided on without considering there are lots of shades of brown etc.

My store is newer (Palo Alto) and seems to have good inventory of everything except for red SLGs. Every time I want a new Bastia, a Calvi, what have you, there are never any red ones, and red is actually my default colors for those items. The explanation I got it was that our store attracts a lot of Asian customers (both local and tourists), and they view red accessories as bad luck, so SLGs in those colors don’t sell and are as a result rarely ordered / sent over. I am not Asian myself (nor is the SA who told me), but I have lived in China before, and my understanding is that red is actually considered a lucky color, but maybe I am mistaken here.

Either way, the store has very few red items that are not bags or scarves. Which annoys me to no end, since I have to order them internally or buy them elsewhere.

I thought red was considered to be a lucky color by Asians. I mean, don't some people get married in it?

Thank you Possum! I really love greens, corals, and brown tones. This season has been a killer one for me! My wallet needs a rest. Every time I go to my local H and put my credit card in the slot to pay, I am just waiting for it to read, "Are you back, AGAIN?" on the display.

There are worse things a monitor can say . . .

It is definitely the lighting. I purchased this scarf CW and was shocked (in a good way) when I saw it in person as I was not expecting the zebra to be so green after the photos I had seen here on TPF

I've seen this one in person and it is indeed green around some of the black stripes.
Specifically around the neck, belly, and hind legs. The photo is correct, not trick lighting.

A peppermint pink zebra is so much more appetizing than a slightly greenish one, much as I love green.

That is so interesting. I saw green in it, but it wasn't distracting in any way. It just added a bit of shading that looked pretty with the other colors.

You always choose the perfect scarf! All of the ones you mentioned above will look lovely on you with your bags and hats (and gorgeous tweeds!) I had to take pics of my two Jardin Anglais to bring to the boutique so that I wouldn't repeat the colors for MZ. Even though both had some green in them, the MZ was different enough to justify buying it. After I get my Bolduc in brown, I need to close my eyes for the rest of the season.

I have been struck by resemblance between Jardin Anglais and Mtn Zebra. Glad you pointed that out.

I don’t find the green very distracting or too “in your face”, I really love it. I guess I was just surprised because I hadn’t expected the zebra to be so green from the photos I’d seen. Perhaps my phone screen doesn’t pick up oh some colours very well? either way, I love the little green-tinged zebra!

I love it, too! The colors in that scarf are beautiful! I probably would have chosen that one, but I wanted cw 11 because most of the scarf is green.
