The story behind
Uniforms worn by the Zouaves, the French-speaking infantry unit from Africa, and the Dragoons, cavalry soldiers on foot or horseback, give name to this scarf. The artist, Virginie Jamin, was inspired by the military attire depicted in the pages of a 19th-century album conserved in the Émile Hermès collection. Decorated with braids and silk embroidery, the uniforms seemed to come alive in a majestic dance, as if inhabited by their former wearers.

First World dilemma. Are “my” neutrals “too many”?
Piks JdL CW16, which I have and herewith a few modeling shots; La Cite Cavaliere CW13, which I want; and Acte III shawl CW22, which I’d like to have but....not sure. What do y’all think?

I have being having the same discussion in my head, you are not alone. Funny, it is with this cw of Acte III, too, and the neutral shawls I already have. Two neutral shawls and one twill is not too, too bad imho. I guess I would say if the hems are all orange, and the bits of accent colors are also too close, then maybe it is a pass. It also depends on your wardrobe. I have mostly neutral clothing, so that also might be a factor.

For me it would be too many too soon from the same time frame, but if neutral is what you like that’s another story altogether. Athere any color ways that are more neutral but in reverse, with out the pale background?

ahhhhhhh, @bunnycat good question, and topical re: F/W19 season choices for anyone. since Acte III is the real target, I’ll consider other CWs.
@vildachya — another good point — wardrobe dominantly black , plus the brown suede jacket shown. got into scarves to dress up my downplayed wardrobe.
THANK YOU BOTH!

The blue/pink one (my fave) has some brown in it and the swirly clouds are black (??)

And the pretty blue and green one has brown in the trees.

I was on a no buy until I saw these! Does anyone else have pics of the actual scarves? The H website for Canada doesn't have them yet. :( I've only seen CW 13 posted here so far. :)

To my eye, your JdL is a lighter, or lacier, design. While Acte III is stronger and bolder. And it looks as though Acte III has a lot more brown in it, whereas your JdL has bits of blue and burgundy. Though, as we all know, H photos can be deceptive!

On the other hand, both shawls definitely "read" neutral because of their beige background.

On the third hand, that's not necessarily a bad thing! Maybe two neutral shawls are useful in your wardrobe? Spoken by someone who has a fair number of blue 90cm scarves!

I agree, I like neutral scarves and shawls. I like the way they work into my wardrobe. If you like a colour than I say go for it. But if you want something to “pop” against a black wardrobe, a neutral may not have the effect your looking for...but all the scarves you have have presented are really stunning!:flowers:
