Love it! See? You had to have that bag;)

Thanks. Yes it was probably in the cards lol.
:). This will be my 2nd red Gucci bag. The other one is a messenger guccisima. :).
You really purchased some nice ones. I think u posted the Burberry which I had never seen but love! I contemplated looking for it! Lol

Thanks. Yes, I did. I had gotten the bag at Bloomies; however the Burberry sale is going now and they have it available for $350.

Here we are saying we're all addicts; meanwhile I'm giving you a lead on a bag lol. :)

We're all shopping addicts; why else are we posting here? ;)

A good sale does make me spend more than I would've otherwise. I read a study that sales elicit the same neuron response as drugs and sex! No wonder we become such shopaholics when it comes to sales.

The only thing stopping me from buying a luxury item too frequently (once or twice a year is max for me) is that even after discounts, it's still easily several hundred dollars out of pocket. I'm not so sure if I can stomach that for multiple items. Even one item makes me feel a twinge of guilt for purchasing it. Case in point, I bought a sale Gucci bag this summer and still feel that I spent too much on it (spent less than a thousand, but still a lot!).
You know I honestly would of never spent more than $200 for a bag until after I came here and saw all the beautiful hi-end things everyone has been buying over the years that I felt a need to get one and 2 and 3; hey considering it was half price at one time. Never in my life would I ever think of spending $826 for a handbag, but I did. My family would think I was nuts if they ever knew. I collect Beatles autographs and with the money I've been spending on hi-end merchandise these past 3 years, I could've gotten at least 3 full sets. But I'm not saying I shouldnt have bought the stuff I did because it gives me instant satisfaction and makes me feel good. I envy you how you control your wants and that's one thing I need to learn.

I can't believe all the bags and shoes I have that are still in the boxes that I never used or worn. Why? Why did I buy them?; because I got in a sale? yeah, but was it worth it to still be in the boxes????

To me catching a sale was like playing a game. Hey it was Gucci( well worth playing a game. But this game has some how gotten out of hand with me.

A recent example was when NM had a bag on sale. The moment you put it in your cart it was gone. Apparently they had only a few available. Then the next day it showed up again; still not available. And then again. Well the last day of the sale I saw this Gucci Soho red wallet on strap bag that I just had to have. . Why? I don't know. To me it was a game. I placed it in my cart and it said not available. I went back and it was available. So I bought it. Couldn't believe I got it. Do I need it? No. but I really wanted it and when it was available and I snatched it up. I said, hey I got in on the game and won the bag that was hard to find. Same thing with the black Soho studded disco bag. An SA contacted me a few weeks ago and told me there was one available and needed an answer right away before someone grabbed it. I said yes yes here's my card lol. Did I need it, no. But I wanted it because it was hard to find. (That is my most expensive Gucci bag.) I love it but haven't used it yet.

You (and others who have noticed the same behaviours) might like to read Rachel Bowlby's Carried Away: the Invention of Modern Shopping. The 'game' you and others play is not all in your head, it's been created so shopping obeys the same principles as games and other forms of entertainment.

You know in on some sites something appears under 'new stock/season' but it says 'not available', 'email to order' or even 'Sold Out'. People think wow, that must be popular I better make sure I get it if/when it comes in again, but really the garment hasn't even come in yet. It makes the item and even site/brand look more popular than it is and of course they want your email

Unfortunately, I think once you break a certain price barrier there is no going back. Once I spent xxxx amount on Louis Vuitton I stopped thinking spending that amount was crazy. And I like that there is never a sale there because then I can take my time deciding... try things on, think about etc - Then when you do decide to purchase you know the price if it's available. There will be no deal you miss out on later down the line, only price increases. Online sales force you into making snap decisions. At least there is the option to return! I don't snap buy final sale items with no return option. I do use everything I keep. If I don't use it within the return timeframe then it gets returned unless it was purchased for seasonal use. So sales are fun when you get something you really wanted in the 1st place but they definitely provoke more spending on other things you didn't necessarily need/want to begin with.

That's a very interesting concept PT. I can't believe there's s book about this. It must be very interesting reading. I think I will pick it up. Thanks for the info. :)

This morning I decided to count all my Gucci shoes/boots/sneakers. I was in absolute shock! (Most of my stuff came from Gucci sales and only a handful where I paid full price.). Well low and behold I have a total of 33 pairs lol. But the sad part of this is I have only worn 11 of the 33. And as I mentioned in another thread, after counting them again, I have 24 bags (+2 which will be coming soon); and I have only used 15 of those bags only once).

I don't know why I buy buy buy when I don't need need need. But I do want want want lmao. :)

I am definitely a member of Gucci-addict Anonymous lol. :)

You definitely are! Maybe you can sell/consign some of the bags you aren't/won't use if they are past the return period?
I have older bags/wallets that I used to use and have sold them. Others that are very worn I am giving away to goodwill.
Even though I have made a few purchases lately I am trying to whittle down my collection and they were fully funded by
selling my non used items. I still have to pack & ship some more things to a consigner. Just being lazy!

Put that money towards a bag/bags you really love & will definitely use! Same with the shoes!

But now that you've done an inventory, are you considering wearing some you may have forgot about? This season I have been a little more conscious of using older stuff and mixing in with new, more so with clothes though. I realized I have great pieces that can be paired with newer items. I also need to get rid of some though.

I also think on this forum we feed off each other. Seeing so many reveals etc. makes it seem like an everyday thing when for most people it's actually not. I was still feeling a little guilt over keeping my newly purchased Gucci wallet but last night one of my best friends was admiring it when I took it out to pay for dinner and she said she loved it, examined it, and said I deserved it lol - so I've decided she's right & she's not even a designer enthusiast.

I guess consigning is a thought but after looking at them, especially the bags, I don't want to depart with them right now. I love all of my selections. But since they are in boxes, I should consider it. Thanks for your suggestion.

You know I actually have considered wearing and using my stuff more. I have actually started using some of my scarves these past few days.
It doesn't bother me if I mix old and new together. My only problem is that I really don't go out, except to the store; and I don't work so I can't "show off" lol my stuff. :). But I am going to make it a point to wear something different each day; whether it be a bag or footwear. :)

So glad you got yourself a wallet and decided to keep it. :) You probably did deserve it. :)
Enjoy your purchase :)

.....IMO, no one does RED like Gucci.......
I completely agree! Now that I purchased my first Gucci red items, I want more! Love this red color! Of course I have always liked the color, but this is a level above!

I agree on these points. I used to feel the same about spending a certain amount on a handbag, but the number changed ever so slightly. I would not spend too much on a final sale item that I can't return (less than $50 or so) because I need to see it in person in my own time and space to make sure I will like and use it. If I am not excited to use it within days of receiving it, then it needs to go back! I don't want to waste money on something that will sit in my closet.

The thrill of the chase often gets me. I would like to be a personal shopper so that I can find the item and use someone else's money to do so! Then they get to keep it and I had the thrill of finding it for them. lol.
