Help! I've decided my next Hermes is going to be a Garden Party, but I'm very confused about the sizes. I've seen GP 36, MM, TPM PM GM Ack! I really want a purse that I can use as a shoulder bag and hand bag. I read somewhere here that only the MM can be used on the shoulder, that the PM handle does not allow for a shoulder. BUT, then I read the PM DOES go on the shoulder. I'm many miles away from an Hermes store so really would like input/modelling shots of the PM and MM on the shoulder. On the Hermes site, they list a GP GM at 14 inches. That's abut 36 cm. But I thought that was the MM. And I've also seen the PM listed as 36 CM. I would really like someone to straighten all this out! Aaagh!:blah:

I have always understood the 36 to be the MM. There are really 2 sizes of GP -- the 36 and the 30. (There is, I believe, a larger "travel" size, but it's not common and I'm not even sure it's produced anymore.) The 30 is the tPM, which is why I think the 36 gets called everything else. I have the 36 and have tried the 30. I can tell you that a normal-sized person cannot put the 30 over the shoulder. The 36 can go over the shoulder, but if you are large or wearing a bulky winter coat, it can be awkward, especially if the bag is very full. I think the strap drop is 6 inches, which isn't a lot. My SA has said the 36 wasn't intended to be a shoulder bag. I have pretty much stopped wearing my Garden Parties in the winter with a heavy coat for that reason.

The size 36 used to be called PM and the size 30 TPM.

The size 4x (I think) was the MM but they never called it a 40, just MM. There are old pictures from the Japanese reseller books that lists all sizes.

I would suggest you just use measurements to decide, rather than names which is why Hermes started moving their naming conventions to include size about 5 years ago.

Does anyone own a Evie 29 and a GP 30 ?
I am so hoping to get one this year and don't know which to choose ... 30 or 36. I have heard people had troubles with stuff falling out ? Is it as tall as the Evie ?
I imagine the GP to be as wide as my Evie, but not as Tall and abit wider ?
Thank you so much ❤️

I'm a newbie for Hermes bag so need someone's help. I plan to buy my first Hermes bag. I like GP 30 (mm) noir too much but after I reviewed all posts. I found problems about it's 4 corners. 4 GP corners will be rubbed or damaged after too short time because of GP made from negonda (soft leather than other leather) and no metal feets so I would like to ask questions
1. Is it true about the corner of negonda GP?
2. Is there GP in Clemence or Togo?
3. Can I put Hermes fourbi 25 in GP 30 for holding GP's shape?
Thank you too much all Hermes users
