I agree about the recent mania for polka dotting, Les Tambours. Polka dots are fine, but this is a minimally creative move, Hermes. I admit that I am not liking the abstract, angular designs that we've seen with increasing frequency. I prefer either more photo-realistic art, a la Dallet, or the rounded figures of Alice Shirley and the complex, organic shapes of Aline Honore. Though Gattoni designs are anchored by rather geometric, architectural shapes, and these are totally redeemed for me by his whimsical populations of wee humans and horsies.

Whimsy always captures my heart.
The cynical side of me (okay, it's the majority of me) wonders if straight line based prints are easier, e.g. cheaper, to manufacture than swoops and whorls.
