Do you have to buy a trunk first to be eligible to buy a P9?
Definitely not. But you may perhaps need to be a VIC with LV perhaps or show some spending with them? VVICs may get first dibs, esp on a more in-demand color (like the pink) or size (25). But who knows. I think many people just walk in to a store and ask and they are shown what the store has in stock. I feel like that is usually a larger size (40) or a less popular color (yellow/orange?) that doesn't sell as well.... at least that is what I was shown when I just walked in to a store randomly without an SA contact or appointment.

Thank you. Good to know. One of my SAs said, you need to buy some special trunk first to be eligible to buy a P9, but perhaps it just depends on who you talk to and your spending level.

Hadn't spent any money at LV in ages and have never bought a trunk but the Tokyo boutiques threw P9s at you if you showed any hint of interest. The boutique I was in had the lime puddle displayed but worked really hard to convince me on the lemonade color. Not particularly odd but paradoxical that they made me wear gloves to touch the P9s. Very let's call it firm language: "I can order you this (amethyst) color today but I'm off tomorrow, what time will you come in on my next working day?"

Contrasting with a trip to Rodeo and SCP boutiques where neither wanted to show any bag outside of what you might inquire about, I had seen the alpha wallet bag in the new light blue monogram shadow in KIX airport but none to be found in SoCal.

KIX has everything. Great Airport boutique to shop!

I think buying a trunk will make u eligible for the p9 in traditional orange color. That was the specific color way that hinged upon trunk purchase. I think if ur looking for it in other colors ur chances very by location/country. I don’t think the hype for this bag has picked up in some places which is why they are able to get it. I was able to place an order recently even tho I am not a Vic. I just buy pieces casually here and there. However, I do have a nice SA in which I am trying to consistently buy from. They try to make is seem like it’s hard to get because I was offered the p9 in several other sizes before 25. I knew I didn’t want a large one so I was polite but firmly denied each one and stuck to the size and specific color I wanted. If u can focus on one specific size a color it might make it easier for ur SA to focus on acquiring.

They make the biggest commission on hard sided pieces, from what I hear. Which explains this odd "buy a trunk" sales pitch you may be hearing. I don't think I know anyone who buys trunks in general, eps not my friends who own p9s. Reach out to a new SA or I can give you mine, who would never pressure you for that. Feel free to DM me. Buying a trunk would be some serious money to fork over just to have the honor to spend $10k more for a p9. That is Hermes level bribery. LOL. Cheaper to just buy on StockX or eBay at that point and save yourself $70k.

Also, anyone can reach out to the 800# concierge. It has been surprisingly effective for me. You just click on the Contact Concierge button on the website when you search for the p9 you are looking for. They send you back a somewhat automated email but with an actual person's contact. I replied with what I was looking for (very specific color and size combo) and never expected to hear back. Next thing I know, I get a text from them just recently and then follow up email that what I was looking for is something they can order right now (pink 30!!!). So I got the payment link and preordered it. Easy peasy. There is no ETA (maybe 3-6mo?) but hey... they have my money now, which is one step closer to my dream combo.

I thought the orange colorway was only available in size 40 and only for the cilents that bought into the VIA programme? It's technically hinged to a trunk purchase, but it's the VIA digital trunk. Unless it didn't sell well enough and they decided to open it up beyond VIA customers? (I would imagine VIA customers to be very unhappy campers if that were the case though)

There is still nothing on my 25 in Amethyst—I got offered a green one several times. :/ SA told me mid-April (which is soon, but still—she was not super confident about it).
I'm traveling to Paris in a week, so should I try my luck there?

I just go offered the purple 25 recently. It’s out there to preorder. Are are you in the US?

You should contact a sales person in Paris and ask them to find it for you before you arrive. Just walking in to find it will prob not be realistic. We were just in Paris! It was amazing. Prices for all LV are SOOOO much cheaper there!

The purple is nice individually; however, I find it hard to match it with my outfits. I think I'm already very color adventurous since I wear lots of pinks.

I wish going forward the p9s can be produced in more neutral/ elegant colors, rather than hip and sharp, in your face colors.

But it's a men's collection and so on athletes and celebrities they look really nice. But as a woman, I want something more graceful for my everyday wardrobe.

Which is the traditional orange colour?

What do you all think about the original brown? Worth getting it in P9? Or get another colour?

I love it in the brown (probably in minority) because I like going under radar. It's not like I don't like colors, but the current offerings on the 25 are too audacious to me. It's REALLY hard for me to think of ways to wear those colors and I like colors, but more on a pastel palette. Not bold and strong, and in your face. They seem too masculine to me.

But they sure look nice on a lot of the male models carrying them. Somehow the sharp colors work so well on men.

I hate to say this but if the colors are more sophisticated like Hermes, I think I'd go for color! In artist terms, the colors are "straight from the tube". Each color needs to be mixed in with something to make it more alluring and endearing.

PS: yeah, what is traditional orange color? I'd like to know as well.
