So I know that in order to prevent the dreaded smile on my Alma BB, I should stand the handles up. I read that some people used the blue LV packaging ribbon to tie the handles up together. Anybody had any issues of color transfer from the ribbon doing this?

It's where if you store your handles down on the sides of the bag, they begin to leave a smile indention on the bag.
