Sorry I did not step in earlier - I actually did not check this thread in a few days and I am sad to see where it turned.
I do not really understand why mods pointing out rules makes people leave the forum. People sign up and check that they will abide by the rules. Our rules are fairly simple, and they are in place for reasons we find important. Some of our major rules include:
- First and foremost, be kind and respectful of the other forum members
- No politics. PLENTY of other political board on the web. Unfortunately most people can not keep political comments out of threads that are not meant to be political. Anything remotely political will be deleted.
- No cursing, yelling at others
- No spam
- No posting links to other forums (you will see this on many other forums, this is not just us at all)
- Threads will be moved to proper places. We like to keep things orderly
- No buying or selling on the open board
Those are some of the big ones. First one is to be kind. If people can not do that on a board that is meant to be fun, then they really are missing out.
The mods volunteer on the forum and they help Vlad and I with the rules above. If you have a problem with the rules, come to Vlad or I. But to call out mods, which I have seen done in this thread only a few pages back, is very disrespectful and many of these comments I see go against the rule of being nice.
We have a problem with people not listening. I can not help if someone chooses not to listen and ignores the rules - they will have to be constantly reminded until they ultimately may be banned. That is their issue, not mine and definitely not the mods.
Re-posting photos that people know have been posted should not be done. Sometimes people do it by accident, but this is an ongoing thread that has been reposted on many times, and knowingly so. The issue is not bandwidth really, though that does add up, but it is just trying to only add new things. I don't see a problem with that. And if a member did see a problem and wanted to leave because of that, really, what did we do wrong?
With a board this large we will have to interject - we will have to close repeated posts - we will have to enforce rules - we will have to step in. The board will get out of control without some sense of order here.
And the communist comment is REALLY harsh and VERY rude. To bring that up is ridiculous, and should be reconsidered before anyone wants to call anyone, or thing that. You may have visited communist countries, but that means nothing. Vlad and I do have rules in order, so this is not always a democracy. Again, our rules that everyone said they would abide by.
This is all supposed to be fun - but people dragging others down, making snarky comments, and then going after our mod team I will not have. If you want to go after someone, come to Vlad and/or I via PM. But the mods are simply enforcing our rules, and they get wayyyy too much flak for it.
