Hello! I wanted your opinion on the Olea coat in black. To me it looks identical to Ludmilla but it is made of camel wool and it is lined. I already have a Manuela coat in camel colour. It’s gorgeous but it feels a bit formal and I must admit I have worn it on very few occasions. The Olea looks a bit more relaxed with the patch pockets. On the other hand, it has an A-line silhouette that I’m not sure is flattering for larger thighs.
Here it is on Mytheresa for reference https://www.mytheresa.com/euro/en/women/max-mara-olea-camel-hair-coat-black-p00847545

Beautiful coat with a timeless silhouette! I love that it has a slightly oversized fit. Not sure if the a-line will accentuate larger hips. I think if it's returnable it's worth ordering to try it on.

This is an embarrassing question, but I'll ask anyway: I found a coat on eBay that the seller identified as a "Max Mara" (with the quotation marks) for $225 with shipping. It just arrived--it fits--I like it. But I'm not sure it's authentic, and I love to have some opinions from people who know the brand. The buttons don't say Max Mara--and the lining is plain black, without the logo. (I have two other MM coats that I bought from Max Mara in the 90s; even those older coats have the logo). The quality feels good, if not quite as luxurious as my old ones. I'm wondering if it's even possible that it could be real without the logo lining. (If questions like these aren't okay on this part of the site, apologies! I'll understand if it's deleted by moderators--)

(Just tried to move this message to the Max Mara authentication thread--but I think I've bungled it. Apologies for the duplicate posting.)

It's hard to say from the photos, the coat is dark, so I can't really see how the fabric drapes. But it seems like it fits you well. Do you like it? Do you feel like you want to wear it right away? Usually if I don't feel like I really want to start wearing it like right now, it's not the piece that is worth keeping.

Can any ladies help me with sizing? I only have oversized Max Mara coats (teddy, manuela, etc.), and I’m hearing that their tailored coats run small? According to their size chart, I need a 36, but wondering if I should size up to 38…. View attachment 5999413
It’s a beautiful coat-the only one I’ve bought-then returned but regret as it’s now double the price, is the Rialto in a U.K. 2- is that a 34??

It was very generously sized as I’m a U.K. 4- usually Italian 36, although I do have both an Alexander McQueen jacket and a Valentino dress in 36 that are big on me, so maybe not the best person to ask❤️

All my oversized Max Mara coats are also in the smallest size...

The coat I posted above is a tailored/structured coat from their Atelier collection. I tried it on in Paris, but for the life of me, can't remember what size I tried on.

ANY OTHER IDEAS/THOUGHTS ON SIZING LADIES?

Does anyone have a suggestion for removing a small dark spot on the lapel of my camel Manuela? I just noticed it, (I don't think I've work this coat 4 times😭) not sure what it could be, afraid to rub it1716643113287916245559400833452.jpg.. ty

I don't think I've *worn* this coat 4 times, and only to/from work...
@BigAkoya any thoughts???
Hi! No, don't rub it! You will just push the dirt into the threads.
I would take it to cleaners and let them remove it. The cleaners can do wonders. I've had my cleaner remove lipstick and red pasta sauce, and the entire stain was removed. One time my stain was on ivory cashmere, but the pasta sauce came out (I think I splash when I eat pasta!:heart:)

I think your spot looks to be just regular oily dirt, which would be an easy removal in my opinion.
But no... do not rub it, do not wipe it with water, don't do anything that will "seal" that dirt spot in the fabric.
Basically, don't touch it!  Just take it to the cleaners and point out that spot to them. I am certain they will remove it.

Hi! The tailored coats (and jackets) run true to size for me in the shoulder. I would say the difference is in the sleeve/armpit opening. For the tailored coats and jackets I have, the torso length runs long and high, meaning the sleeve/armpit opening is small (think Chanel jacket and how Chanel sleeves are typically cut high for a leaner look). I like this look for a tailored jacket as this creates a long lean torso look. The Teddy and Manuela are oversized and do not give this look. You can also see how huge the sleeve/armpit opening is in the Manuela as an example.

I am 108lbs, 5' 2" and tiny boobies, so I take my regular size. I think if you are a bit chunky in the armpit area or have big boobies, the coat may pull under the armpit and upper chest shoulder area. The shoulder width will be fine. I hope that makes sense. It also depends on what you plan to wear underneath.

I have a black fitted tailored camel fabric coat, and I only wear it with suits. I actually love the slim look. However, I cannot wear super chunky sweaters underneath it, but I purchased the coat specifically to go with my suits for a more tailored look.

If you go up a size, yes, the armpit will be looser, but keep in mind the waist and torso will also be looser, so you will lose that tailored fit a bit. You could have it tailored if needed. Max Mara does amazing tailoring, or I am sure your local tailor can do the same.

What I would do is order both sizes and see which you prefer. Be sure to look at the fit of your armpit area and also the area were the outer edge of your boobies are, kind of right below your armpits.

Hope this helps. Good luck!
