I am sort of new to Hermès. I started saving three years ago, knowing I wanted a small cross body in gold. I was thinking either mini Roulis or mini Mosaique. Two years ago I was in Brussels for work, and between meetings I ran for the H store, and by a miracle they had a mini Mosaique in gold! It is absolutely beautiful. I guess this would be my holy grail.
It was bought to be worn outside of work, and I have done that, and I love it. But I must admit, that it is not a very practical bag, mostly because it is small. I can fit my essentials, but when you’re going shopping or on an outing it is often nice to have room for just a little more.
By the time I realized this, I had 1) caught the H bug, and 2) thrown caution to the wind and started looking a pre-loved H bags. My next bag was a Bolide 27, bought for the same purpose (weekends), and the is definitely the most used!
A whole other story is work bags. Here I have gone for what I know (from many years of been a Bottega Veneta affacionado) works for me: Hobo bags. These are not currently in vogue, but I have found some pre-loved, and they get lots and lots of use - So Kelly 22, Massai, Trim 35 and lately a Marwari bag. I prefer less well-known H bags, and pre-loved fits better in my budget, so that’s a win-win.
I just had this discussion with myself (about a new Gucci) but as I said on another thread, some bags are not worth the hassle and some bag are just worth it, can't be practical all the time.
