I feel the love you have for your bags both sides of the divide. All 3 of your most prized/special sound like the equivalent of fine art in the accessory world, even my imagination is no match for your Raisin/BE stitching SO gift, if ever there was a unicorn...
Everything abut that Kelly is magic. Because the SO was a surprise, I had no time to overthink it and placed the order on the spot. My SA and I both knew that I loved Raisin but didn't have a Raisin bag, so I chose that and another color I love but didn't have in a bag, BE. I didn't have a K25 so I tried one on and loved it. I honestly was worried the color combo would be garish. On top of it all, I ordered brushed palladium and then later realized brushed gold would have been much better. When the bag came in....it was brushed gold <3 and the colors are perfect together! On top of THAT, it came in right after some really sad events in my life and was a huge mood lifter. Just all in all a perfect experience which as we all know is not always the case :flowers:

Oh interesting thread dear PT. I went through many H bags and found my most used bags are shoulder vs. hand carried. Weight is also an issue fir me and I really avoid conplicated closure bags. So I’ve edited any bags I don’t use, but there are three or four that I cannot give upbecause of color, rarity of leather and I just plain love them no matter if they meet any cost per wear, period.

My most used bag has been easy to grab cross body bags like the Massai Cut, it has two strap lengths and is etoupe. I travel with this bag too. Next come three mini roulises which I will throw in a larger tote if going to meeting or office.

My most special bag is a special order kelly in blue nuit and electric blue with brushed palladium hardware. It makes me cry every time i see it because it is so well crafted and the best of H bags. I don’t use it as much due to the weight, sometimes awkward to carry on shoulder or cross body, and the not so easy straps and lack of exterior pockets for phone use.

The bags that I can’t bring myself to let go are vintage Chevre bolide 31 in raisin, mini chevre trim in rouge vif, and ardoise box plume with toile.

How do i square this? H craftsmanship is so rare and lovely, I can’t even look at buying any other bags by other designers save an LV backpack or Longchamps tote when it rains. And since SIP, none on my bags are getting much use at all.

But I do feel I am very squared with my collection and am not really interested in trying out new bags because honestly as I get older I am in a constant editing mode of things I don’t need or use!
me too. I am not sure I understand H logic - under the best of circumstances, is like a blend of philosophical concepts, will have to seriously think about it.:coolio: In general I view them as if I were buying a piece of sculpture for a fine drawing room. Actually the last few years I ve taken this approach for most of my clothes, the art collection approach.

Great thread idea @papertiger. I enjoyed reading the comments above from many people whose collections I admire. I will enjoy coming back to read the comments.

Most used H bag: Etoupe Evelyne III 29 in clemence
My Evelyne has the lowest cost per wear of my H bags, is my most frequently carried bag in 2020 and my second most frequently carried bag of all time. It is a casual crossbody that works for my lifestyle.

Most prized H bag: Etain Bolide 31 in clemence and Bleu Saphir/Bleu Izmir So Kelly Eclat 22 in clemence
My Bolide is my favourite H bag, I love the colour, the size, the versatility in wearing it on the shoulder, crook of elbow or handheld. The So Kelly Eclat was purchased on a trip to San Francisco and has the wonderful contrast interior and stitching.

H logic squared: The H bags in my bag wardrobe are practical, easy to use bags that go with my wardrobe and lifestyle. I use them on a regular basis, none are too precious, a perfect balance of form and function.

Yay! I wanna play, sorry I missed this earlier.

Most used bag: Massai PM clemance rouge garrance (maybe, unsure, bought on reseller market). Leather is remarkably durable, great grab and go, stays on my shoulder and holds my life. Following a close second is Plume 32 in box rouge vif. Knocks my socks off when I take her out to play but I worry so much more since she is box. I had a dog jump up on me and my bag, left a scratch, infuriating....but I still use it.

Most prized: Hands down my 1964 Kelly 28 box in rouge H. But alas, she doesn’t get out much, I worry the most with that one. It’s small for my day to day, delicate, but still in wonderful shape for the age. For a close second is my black box Constance 23 from 1980 who rarely goes out for the same reasons, small, delicate and cherished.

H logic squared: looks like I have no logic, lol... I loved what an earlier poster said, “it wasn’t logic, it was love” but I’m not running into Mr. Big’s arms, however I do swoon looking at the works of art. I need to rotate more, that’s my logical takeaway...and to stay away from the math of what I paid versus how much some are used, haha....

OK, let me give this a try.

Most used bags: Evelyn III Clemence in Blue and also in Havane.
This is my most used pair of bags for daily carry.
I absolutely love how these bags fit close to me and wear, I really do not believe there is a better Hermes bang for the buck.
Plus I get many compliments on them when I wear them which means a lot to me.

Most prized bags: A toss up between two Birkins, one which I don’t have yet since I’m getting it from a beautiful, sweet, dear friend and she has given me a payment plan to help me with the purchase. :yahoo: How much better can it get.
She has sent me photos of the bag, along with photos of her superb modeling shots carrying it.
I simply cannot wait to carry this beautiful bag of hers which will soon be mine.
The fact that this bag is coming to me from a loving friend means the world to me.

My 35 cm Graphite Birkin with PHW in Clemence.
And, my, hopefully, soon to be mine, Birkin 30 Potiron in Chèvre.

On the Most Used Bags, the cost per wear is negligible since I plan to use these bags forever and the fact that they wear like they were made of iron and I don’t see ever having to replace them making the daily wear cost of these two bags negligible.

On the Most Prized Bags, I would have to once again say, the daily wear cost is negligible.
I plan to treasure these two bags for the rest of my life, especially the one my friend is selling me.
She means a great deal to me in my life and I am going to treasure her/my bag from now on! :hbeat:

So, on to H Logic squared, buy what you love and carry them with pride.
These bags were meant to be used and I'm going to really enjoy carrying and using them on a regular basis.
I don't have any "safe queens" or "closet lurkers" so to speak, all my bags get carried and used on a regular basis.

You have a lovely bag collection! I considered at one point getting a 35cm Birkin with the very same specs and hardware! great minds! my plan was to get a Evelyne pre-pandemic through a personal shopper, once things calm down, I'm going to pick one up, as i'm missing a functional crossbody bag in my collection. For a while there I was unsure of what colour i wanted but, i've decided to go with black PHW.

Most used H bag: Pre-Pandemic my gold/orange Double Sens tote 45cm. This tote for me was very functional ,practical, and The cost per wear is pretty low. Hopefully things will get back to normal soon, so that I can enjoy using it again.

Most prized H bag: My 32cm vintage Gulliver Kelly. This beauty is in great condition for its age, sometimes I take it out of the closet and just admire it (crazy I know) The beauty of this bag made me fall down the Hermes rabbit hole. The cost per wear is high I’ll admit, as I use it on special occasions but it does not matter to me. Purchasing it at auction was so worth it! I own a work of art.

H logic squared: I really like the Double Sens, funnily enough, I didn’t think I would use the bag as much. My Kelly I can justify the high cost per wear, the craftsmanship is just:girlsigh:

I love my Double Sens too. I knew I would though, a friend had it and I had bag envy LOL, it was a bout just finding one the right combo of colours - it's a big bag (maxi).

You have some lovely bags. Glad the MC is getting a good work out.

Kellys always need thinking about IMO. I think if I lived in the country full-time I wouldn't have even considered one.

Wow, your vintage bags sound amazing, and like me, once they get beyond a certain age I feel a pang of uncertainty in carrying them as everyday bags because they've lasted so long pristine. I'm glad you're the custodian.

I'm jealous of your Plume, scratch or no scratch!

This is a hard one for me PT! I do try to rotate my bags, but if pushed to quickly get out the door with a bag...
I have 2 -
My Blue Paon SO K25 is in chevre. Super light, compact, any weather, dressy or casual! I really haven't stopped using her since I received her last January. Too bad she doesn't get to go out much, but she does see the grocery store at least!

My other most used everyday: Evelyne 29 in turquoise

Most used tote: Garden Party 36 in turqouise

Least used: well, garden party 30.
My most prized: BF birkin 30. Cost per wear Very High! But I love her, just afraid to hurt her! Gotta get over that, I suppose..

My thoughts on this are as follows....you bought the bag, you love the bag, you really need to use the bag.
It's not giving you any pleasure sitting alone in your closet and you are not getting the enjoyment out of carrying it.
This is a lose/lose situation. Just MHO. :hugs:
