Hi - could I pick everyone’s brains for advice. I’m going on holiday to Bangkok and Phuket this july. Would a tourist be able to purchase a birkin if I bought some other items ( thinking rtw) or is it highly unlikely? Should I be upfront about what I’m after?

If so where would it be best to go as there seem to be a few shops.

Thanks in advance !

From what I heard from those live in Thailand, H Thailand provides the worst services. I don't want to spread the gossip because it's he said she said, not really my personal experience. If you really want to try your luck, Phuket is the best one, Icon Siam in BKK is second. You might be lucky if you are upfront and just request what you are after and ask how much you have to spend (if you want rtw anyway), hint to SA that you're ready to spend. Bare in mind prices are higher in Thailand than EU. Good luck! Keep us updated.

Thanks - this is very helpful. I’ll report back after my trip for sure. Let’s hope Phuket caters more for tourists !!

From what I heard is similar to @ArielS , you should try Phuket and Icon Siam. but the pre-spending is more than 1:1 and B30 might be easier than B25. Some locals have been waiting for B25/K25 months. Good luck and enjoy your trip :)

Hello to all Purseforum members in Thailand.

I am travelling to Thailand in July this year and I would like to find out more about Hermes in Bangkok and I love shopping when overseas!

It would be my anniversary and my partner wants to get a special bag to celebrate this occasion.

I will staying nearer the Siam Paragon Hermes.

I was wondering how is the Hermes Siam Paragon experience like?

Do they bother with tourists or do they just entertain the locals?

Understand most people would not like to share who their SA is, but if there is any kind soul who wish to share advice and experiences please PM me!

Thank you all for the information shared thus far it has been really helpful!

I have visited most stores in Bangkok - not yet been to Icon Siam though. They seem to be pretty devoid of any stock so even if you wanted to spend there is nothing to buy! No bags/ small leather goods and very limited RTW. Heading towards the Rolex watch situation I feel where every store seems to have display pieces only! I got the impression that locals are better entertained.

Icon in my experience has the best and widest stock, because it is relatively new, has very high tourists numbers visiting and locals have started their relationships more recently. Newer stores are sent the latest things from Paris to help them establish themselves, this is a worldwide pattern. Having said this, the best bags are reserved for local customers as stock has been affected by recent drops. The store was relatively well stocked during periods of Covid when the EU and US was more badly affected and H diverted stock to Asia.

I did visit Icon Siam and would agree it is the largest store and had more stock. The SA said they had no bags or wallets - and she would have offered one if available - she was very charming and seemed sincere. Rtw was reasonable but shoes were limited. A good experience overall and if I was a local I’d definitely hang out there!

And a final post about Hermes stores in Thailand - on my exit i went to the airport store. It had really nice pieces - silkIn wallets; unique limited edition scarfs and even croc orans and oasis slides. I was fortunate to find the marble silk fringe muffler scarf which I’ve been looking for back home but not found. Couldn’t resist that one! I’d highly recommend it as one to visit.

Hi @Hanash

Did you managed to get anything from Hermes Phuket?
Apologies - I only just saw this. Yes I did go to Hermes Phuket. I posted on the Hermes Phuket thread but what I wrote was as below. In essence please go if you are there but dont go with the aim of buying a quota bag as it was pretty disappointing in terms of stock level. The best store in Thailand was in icon Siam. All the best!

"I visited the Phuket Hermes store while on the island - lovely window display with a Lindy on display but not much stock inside. It’s a smaller store in an upmarket mall in the old Phuket town.

There were 3 larger silkIn wallets for display only but no SLGs for purchase; limited silks; very limited RTW ( like about 7 items for women) and a similar small range of shoes. The SA was very nice but said they had no bags/ leather and that birkin / Kelly was on a waitlist system - nothing available even to view. She said a lot of people from Bangkok used this store for purchases and bags often went to them. I think she was genuine and this seems plausible as it’s a short flight from Bangkok and the Bangkok stores are prob hugely popular - in fact they had no stock too!!

So not what I had hoped - as Phuket is on the quieter side wrt tourists at present so thought the Phuket store might have had a buildup of stock. Phuket is a relaxing lovely island to visit but unless you are a local wanting to use it as a “home” store, it’s not worth visiting just to look for a bag."
