I used to work for Target when I was in my teens. Target carried products like Bumble and Bumble and BedHead, but they were almost always old. They were frequently returned because the products were old/damaged/tampered with. Target is not an authorized reseller of these products

That's exactly what i've been told so I stay away from those products at target and go to a real salon!

ya - all those "salon only" brands are showing up in target & grocery stores, etc. [ bumble&bumble .. matrix .. pureology etc! ]

you should only be buying those from a salon/beauty supply with the license to sell them.

when u are seeing those products in target, they usually have been tampered with. so i reccommed you don't buy them from a place with out a license to carry "salon only" products!

someone is illegally buying all the product and selling it to those retailers [ and usually they replace the product with something cheaper .. or add water! ] .. so almost always u aren't getting what you're paying for.

ITA  You should only buy from an authorized retailer....you never know how the products were obtained because Bumble and Bumble sure as heck does not contract to Target. I love a good Target deal, but I would never buy B&B from there.

 That's too bad....I'll definitely be returning the B&B Deeep I bought then. Oh, and the prices were not any cheaper than online or in authorized salons. Thanks for everyone's input!

they are nott autorized if you go onto the Kerastase website it will give you a listing of autorized salons. I work at a Kerastase salon and our brand rep was telling us that anything Kerastase sold at Target or any drugstore is either expired or a knockoff

Isn't Target asking for a lawsuit if they are not authorized and are selling expired/knocked-off goods?

I trust the company and know that they are in good hands. I just can't see them making such rash and reckless decisions. Anyone have more sources?

A lot of companies do that: Fred Meyer (northwest company similar to target) sells Matrix, BedHead, etc...for the same prices.

Your best bet is to find a salon that carries those products and make friends with someone that works there and see if they get a discount and will get them for you :)
I used to work at a day spa and we got 40% off retail - Alterna, Abba, Matrix...the works.

I use Rusk, Kiwi or Bedhead and I buy it wherever I see a good deal. I've never noticed a difference in quality. Does shampoo really expire? Does it even have an expiration date on it?! :shrugs:

hmm I used products at target from b and b, biosilk, biolage, etc. and it seems to be the exact same stuff in salons? I don't notice any difference in quality and there isn't any expiration? Plus granted I would think it would have a foul smell if it was expired.

I have always purchased my hair care products from the grocery store (Matrix, Biolage, Paul Mitchell, Bed Head) and have never had problems. My local Target also carries Kiehls now. I also agree that Target is too big of a company to risk lawsuits over the merchandise they carry.

I think it depends on what kind of area you live in. I've seen high end hair products at my loca Target since over the summer. Target is really trying to break away from the "walmart" crowd, and become a different class of its own... Not sure if its legal, but CVS and other drug stores carry professional hair products too... So, how are all the stores getting the products? Someone is selling it to them. And I don't think they are used or returns either...

Well my target has been selling these products for over a year now. I've never purchased any of them from the target.

Kroquet- Target has been sued for selling fake coach purses in my area! Also a couple years ago they were selling rock and republic jeans, seven jeans and other designer clothing and hadbags, but there was a lot of controversy surrounding it and they have since stopped selling it.
