Out of curiosity … how did they phrase these requests to you?only to contact me when they need a certain sale in certain categories to meet their quotas
I know you didn’t ask me but @FrenchNewbie, however, let me chime in - I was repeatedly approached directly, like in: “our new RTW collection is out and so much more approachable/could be your style than previous seasons. We got really high sales targets in RTW from our SM, so…do you want to take a look? You would really help me”Out of curiosity … how did they phrase these requests to you?
This is truly terrible. May I ask where you are located?I know you didn’t ask me but @FrenchNewbie, however, let me chime in - I was repeatedly approached directly, like in: “our new RTW collection is out and so much more approachable/could be your style than previous seasons. Or
“If you buy the Kelly chain bracelet (7k euro at that time) I will check that KTG with my store manager for you”
I didn’t buy the bracelet, “only” 2 rings. And she deemed me not eligible for the KTG. So now I must wait for my SO to arrive to wish for another bag.
(if I will follow up is another matter, see my previous posts)

It can also be more subtle like “we just got some beautiful X in, would you like to see it?” X being something you have never expressed any interest in ever.I know you didn’t ask me but @FrenchNewbie, however, let me chime in - I was repeatedly approached directly, like in: “our new RTW collection is out and so much more approachable/could be your style than previous seasons. For me, it'll be something like "hey look at all this stuff. What do you think about this?"Out of curiosity … how did they phrase these requests to you?
I feel like it’s hard to discern whether or not the SA is trying to get you to buy in a certain category only to hit their sales targets. For example my SA did this yesterday but with silk scarves LOL. I’ve never shown interest in scarves, but maybe she was just trying to get to know better what I like. She asked me if I like their scarves and wanted to check them out. I said no not really, but I can’t imagine she was trying to persuade me to buy a $500 silk to hit some target. It can also be more subtle like “we just got some beautiful X in, would you like to see it?” X being something you have never expressed any interest in ever.
Other more subtle ways are telling you to consider a certain category or discouraging you from buying more of a certain category (scarves for example which are an easy sale) because you have a lot and suggest exploring a different metier such as X.
I should have clarified that every time I have been tried to be traded up it was in a higher priced category.I feel like it’s hard to discern whether or not the SA is trying to get you to buy in a certain category only to hit their sales targets. Also, if the SA (as is the case) knows your style, your spending Habits AND you have more than once told her you.are.not.interested.at.all, than you know it is a desperate attempt at hitting their Target. I mean, she literally said so in my case. The more i think about it, the more it makes me cringe.I feel like it’s hard to discern whether or not the SA is trying to get you to buy in a certain category only to hit their sales targets. This pressure is the exact Main reason for my HermesTox. It almost feels like at work where I myself DO Need to hit sales targets. And tbh, Shopping should never feel like work, nor should the ins and outs of a H appointment should live Rent free in my Head.I'm so glad my sa was never the type to hint at certain category spend or hint she has targets to meet. I did noticed she did recommend an item to me last Dec which was a first but it was something I instantly loved and purchased
I don't think it's pleasant if the sa hints so noticeably like some of the examples mentioned and you don't like the item or even the category at all .. there's still a bit of pressure but I would never buy something I don't like just for the sake of getting an offer later on (just my 2 cent)
