Well... I decided to opt for the Sub. Staf. Loan. Being that I'm transferring to a community college this year, my tuition has dropped an insane amount (which is nice being that I'm only working on generals). I'm pretty much using the loan to buy me time. I registered yesterday and my money is due already by Friday. Sooo... That's what I'm going to do and being that each day I'll be done with classes by 10:45 that will give me pleanty of time for a job in the afternoons. I might still sell a few bags so I can, you know, buy gas for my car and whatnot. Lol! A little over a month ago I left a tuition-reimbursing job so this was not really planned very well - oops!

Maybe a job nanny-ing. That could be nice...
yeah go for it, everyone thinks that as soon as you get the hell out of high school you need to go to a big expensive college to do well. thats totally lame, go to a regular college or a community college, get your first credits done and out of the way, and then transfer to a college that specializes in what you want to study in.

I know, it's crazy! I ended up going to CC because it was right around the corner from my house and the big university was an hour away. Also, my university had a campus by me that had my specialization classes at it, so it all worked out!

I'm glad you took the loan. I'm sure you'll find a job soon and get it paid off in no time.

Yeah I second this.. 3 years and $120,000 later.. I kind of wish I didn't go to a "big expensive college." I don't think anyone is going to look at my application for law school next year and think OMG!! She went to WHAT college? LET HER IN! GPA & test scores matter way more.

Gah think of all the purses $120K can get you :push: LOL!

Hehe. I started off at a state U in Wisconsin til I had my falling out with my friend.... now I'm just doing the CC thing for my generals and then I'll be transferring to the University of Minnesota to pursue... Mortuary Science :wtf:

I didn't qualify for any financial aid.. so if it weren't for my parents I'd seriously be out on the streets living inside a scribble hobo!

And Katie I read your post about your roomate in the other thread.. I'm so glad you gave her a piece of your mind at the end!! She needed to hear it!

Once my brother graduates from school at the end of this year, I probably won't be getting any financial aid. Poo.

Haha, thanks! Sometimes, the good girls have to do the verbal smacking :yahoo:

Hey there! I also went to a school in Wisc (Madison, that is)... but then moved back to MN where I originally grew up, and attended the U of MN in the twin cities.

But anyway... if you end up not being able to part with your handbags or accessories, I'm sure there are plenty of jobs for college students, esp the ones that offer tuition reimbursement. I know UPS does, and they're always recruiting at the U. I'm sure there'll be job fairs for college students in the fall.

Or... apply at a Coach boutique. I assume a lot of retail places are still hiring. One of the guys I used to work with applied at the one at the Mall of America and was recently hired! That way, you can earn money and enjoy discount privileges!

I looked into tuition reimbursement jobs, and the ones I found in my area were Starbucks, Barnes & Nobles, and a bank. I found a different job, so I didn't look into them closely, but it's crazy what kind of places will pay you back for your degree!

When I worked for Wells Fargo, they were willing to give me $2500 part time or $5000 full time... but the job was a complete flop. Ugh. The turnaround at that place was a complete joke!

This probably won't help but I was in American Eagle last week and there was this one girl and her friend. The girl was trying on the shirt and really liked it but the friend said "Well I like it but you need gas for your car more then you need the shirt". I though that was really responsible for her to put the shirt back and wait until it went on sale or something.

Also, you might not want to do this, but what about like leasing your bags? Like if one of your friends has been eyeing one of your bags you could let her use it for like a month for $10-ish dollars?

Or you could offer to clean people dorms (like 20$ for vacumm, dust, clean bathroom, make bed, etc)

Or if you do end up getting a job, maybe you could try to apply at the Coach store so you can get a discount on the bags! (If they even do that) I mean, you already know tons of stuff about them from being on tPF and you already have some of their products...

I hope that everything works out for you!

Unfortunately I don't live in the dorms (thank goodness!)... but I'll have to look into one of the local Coach stores. I believe they're paid on commission (based upon how they pounce on you when you enter the store) but I've been offered a job at one once before, may as well apply and see!
