Starting a new Charm Bracelet

Get a Pandora. The charms will be super safe-no need to worry about snagging them on anything. Chamilia makes a similar one, and the charms cost a bit less. I have a silver bracelet and mostly silver charms but you can get silver w/gold accents, too. Gold has become too expensive for me to collect a whole bracelet full.

I agree. Pandora can be personalized and you have a choice between all silver, all gold, or two-tone. I started my bracelet three weeks ago and I'm almost done. (Sorry for the blurry camera pics. P.S. See the purse charm?...lol)

Years ago I started a silver charm bracelet. I bought charms from places I traveled to. It was more of a keep sake than a piece of jewelry. When I look at it I am able to remember a lot of the fun adventures that I had.

This is what I have.

My brother bought me a Silver charm bracelet with one charm on it when I was christened. He got me a new charm every birthday until I was 18.

I used to buy silver charms from wherever I went too and I got different ones for special occasions as well, like my wedding day, and when my children were born.

I know have 3 silver charm bracelets and I can remember when or where most of the charms came from. These bracelets will be passed down to my daughter later (she has one also that we started when she was christened) and hopefully then passed onto her daughter too.

I will try to remember to post photos later.

These are my 3 charm bracelets.

The middle one is the first one I got when I was Christened, then when that was full I started the one on the top.

The bottom one was my mother's so was given to me complete with all charms.

I don't wear them as much as I should but I'm scared of losing any charms as they all mean something. I have a church for one I got married, a pram and a stork for both my children. My ballet shoes for when I passed my first major ballet exam etc etc.

I have one by Thomas Sabo. The Charms are Sterling Silver and cost between 20 and 200 €. I also bought charm necklaces in two different lenghts and a charm pin. So I have lots of different ways to wear the charms. A new collection of charms comes out twice a year. The charms are really well made and lots of them are made with Swarovski crystals.
Ali-bagpuss: I love your charm bracelets and how you've collected the charms over the course of your life.

Are these the same as Love Links bracelets?

Yes, it is similar. However, the craftsmanship (hence the price) is significantly different.

I love Pandora bracelets, but if you are looking for a tradtional charm bracelet, consider sterling silver charms by Thomas Sabo. They are made in Germany and are of exceptional quality. Very well made with a lot of detail. With a lobster clasp, it makes changing charms really easy. Take a look at what is available at www.thelatesttrend.com.

There are several good books on charm bracelets - I can't remember their names but look on Amazon. I have both books and love looking through them for ideas.
