It depends on quality of the D rings, I would think even if it cause discolouration of the tab, it would be on the inner part of it which is not noticeable, and it can be cleaned away if you are bothered by it. I put D rings on 2 cosmetic pouches that I have and I would not remove the D rings forever

So glad you got an answer. LV has such great small bags and pochettes and so many ways to wear them.
