Definitely! Most of this comes from my design background and I've gotten a bit snobby about it, I think. But I think where I get with this is that the brand is supposed to be super luxe, or at least that's the way they want to present themselves. And with super luxe, my expectation of that label, is exquisite tailoring and perfect workmanship--and that to be primary focus, and more under the radar with branding, classic in general with the designs, function and form, practicality. To where if your customer is only buying ONE bag and ONE wallet and ONE cles and ONE iPhone case for the next, say, decade (as if anyone keeps an iPhone for a decade, but play along, my husband is one of these weirdos), you want that design and item to look as if it was just designed yesterday, timeless while being fresh and the color to be a neutral--so like Navy or Camel, or I guess, even Red or Black (so sick of red and black leather...), AND hold up as well and look just as good as it was just purchased. More of an all around custom-made "Armani Tuxedo" vibe, if that makes sense. But then they're coming out with screamy, obvious logos and clunky, obvious hardware and just...excess. And sure those phone cases are "fun" and "different," and no doubt will sell out instantly, but that's just not timeless, nor do they say super luxe. They scream Michael Kors to me, though I am sure they're of a much higher quality make.

*shrug* You do say it perfectly! "We all have different taste and we all appreciate different things."

I get where your coming from but I feel that the higher end LV pieces are such as you describe and are there..just most ppl don't purchase them as much so its not seen as often..due to higher price points...

The runway shows are for PR and perspectives and design concepts for the season..so ideas that may or may not translate to a real product

LV is a lot more fun and innovative with their products and have collaborated to make stand out pieces...some work and some don't but I appreciate the forwardness of LV

Luxury is not only the look but history and longevity..LV has that locked down

Is it even sculpted metal?? Or is it woven fiber that's spray painted gold? I can't tell. If it were metal, the frayed ends look like it's gonna be perfect for impromptu self defense!

I was having a conversation with a friend of mine regarding the collection the other day. He was saying that Vuitton RTW lacks core products, and that nothing from the collection can be pick out to be crowned as a classic for the brand.

I see it differently. Vuitton's core product is leather goods, always has been. And I feel like the RTW business is such a small part of the company it almost feels like a vanity business for them, contributing more in the PR aspect rather than sales. I do think Nicolas has done a lot of good things for the brand, and he has a lot of originality and creative use of fabrics and techniques in his collection. They are creative and gather a lot of press around the collection, which I think is a success.

I really not a big fan about timeless on the runway. I want to see originality, I want to see things that push boundaries. I'm personally tired of Chanel. They do their Chanel thing every season, yards and yards of tweed in different shades in predictable, classic designs seasons on end.

As for the phone case, I dislike the look of it because I love the slim aesthetic of the iPhone in comparison to the bulky case, but it's a hot item for sure. Everyone is talking about it. Literally everyone, it's blowing up on Instagram. My SA is getting texts all day from clients asking to purchase. I think that's absolutely genius for the brand, business wise. Im sure the press is going to feature that case as the hottest item of the season as well.

Louis Vuitton has plenty of timeless items. At the same time, I think the business needs funky and for-the-moment hot items too to keep the consumers interested, and that's the momentum that NG is setting that I'm board with.

Exactly what I want from a runway.
