Leather is definitely not new to Louis Vuitton. I don't know how long they've worked with leather but I have 25 year old leather bags from them and I'd bet they go back much further. It's just the idea that myself and lots of others feel their quality is going down. Now they're going to go down the bonded leather road. I'm just disappointed because the newer items don't feel luxurious any more. I want the old Louis Vuitton quality back.
