i think this part is meaningful <<<(bonded leather) claimed to be superior in durability over low-quality genuine leather.">>> LV is known primarily for its canvas durability - leather is a relatively new thing for them, so they might be trying to make their leather durable as opposed to luxurious. that's actually better imo. but just my guesses, of course. it's also very appealing to eco-friendly people who might otherwise not shop the brand
Leather is definitely not new to Louis Vuitton. I don't know how long they've worked with leather but I have 25 year old leather bags from them and I'd bet they go back much further. It's just the idea that myself and lots of others feel their quality is going down. Now they're going to go down the bonded leather road. I'm just disappointed because the newer items don't feel luxurious any more. I want the old Louis Vuitton quality back. I won't be buying bonded leather bags.[emoji17]

Also the 25 year old epi bags I have look brand new so they knew all about durability years ago and bags were so much cheaper then.

i was referring to empreinte ... which i believe is newer? this is just an alternative on some pieces as i understand it. it's not like the whole line up of bags will have it. maybe someone who decides to buy a bag with bonded leather can share their insights, that would be a more valuable post to read.

Yes, and I'm not taking my frustrations out on you[emoji4] . At least they are upfront about it so hopefully anyone purchasing bonded leather will know what they are getting.

I was in the boutique today and took some photos if anyone is interested! Looks like they've gotten in some new stuff like that marine rouge epi bag and the Hyde park totes, among other things. I always like seeing photos like this.

Enjoyed a glass of champagne while I browsed and got my luggage tag hot stamped!

Love the pictures! Thanks for posting!

Bottom line is that bonded leather is not TRUE LEATHER. I couldn't be more disappointed in Louis Vuitton. With all the quality issues and now they are going to use cheap bonded leather ??? What are they thinking???

Hmmmmmm...I get eczema from some leather handbags. Could this be why? A chemical reaction?

Should companies tell consumers that their leather is bonded?

Is empreinte bonded or just stamped? Since the description read "bonded leather cannot be repaired", is that why empreinte cannot be repaired, it must be replaced?
