Sorry for the long post but I wanted to share the background story along with the photo!

I had one day to visit Singapore a couple weeks ago on my way to a scuba diving trip and visited the Hermes boutique at Liat Towers and the one at the takashimaya shopping center, and found this seahorse bag charm at the latter. I was so excited to find a scuba themed charm, although the entire shopping experience was very strange.

At the Liat Towers location, we asked about bag charms. My DH saw a blue rodeo that he really liked but I pointed out the “for display only” sign and we asked if they had others. The SA came out with a pink and brown rodeo that neither of us liked, prefacing it with “this is the only one we have right now.” At that point I showed her a photo on my phone of me with my Birkin and said it wouldn’t really go well but thanks anyway. After that she said oh you want a darker leather, hold on, and suddenly there was an additional one to show us, which we declined. At the shopping center, we were told they had no bag charms. The seahorse was on display so my DH asked for permission to take a photo of it. The SA said it was ok and then asked if we wanted it. I thought she was offering the display - but no, she went in the back and brought us a new one (from the empty stock of bag charms?). Anyway, I love the charm; I could do without all the games though. Also DH continues to remind me since then that SAs must like him more.
Love your seahorse! I hope you both had an amazing scuba trip :)

Seeking some advice. I generally store my Hac a Dos as it came - with the felt, in the dust bag/box. I know the box thing is subject to heavy debate.

But more specifically, I'm wondering if others also store the sangles over the felt as it came from Hermes (and therefore stretched over the hooks instead of through them like you would if you were wearing the bag). Wouldn't the leather sangles stretch out over time? If the bag is at rest, is it really necessary to put the felt between the touret and the plaque?

Hopefully the two pictures below (options 1 and 2) illustrate my point. Option 1 is how I store it now, as it's how it came from Hermes, but see the sangles stretching over the felt/hooks in order for the touret to close properly. Also notice the felt bunching up, so there's some tension there. Option 2 would have the plaques rubbing up against the touret (what's the point of the felt in this scenario)?

I'm not a huge collector but can't think of any other bag where the sangle is stretched over the locks like this?

Thanks for the advice

Is the body of your HAC a dos tightened, so there is less strain on the sanglers? I wouldn’t pull them too tight, but I don’t store with felt etc. I think the felt does stretch it a bit more . But for a HAC a dos, I might store the sanglers so that the hardware is supported and doesn’t sag. . . (I don’t have a HAC a dos, but I did own two HAC 32s, (and the JPG shoulder B, which had HAC hw) and the hw was heavier than birkin HW

Men's shirt, double collar, size 37. It’s oversized. I will wear it as a shacket. It’s being tailored, so if anyone is interested I can take a close up of the collar when I get it back.

Perhaps you can cut two openings one side of the felt where the metal hooks are, kind of like on the felt that is used on Birkin bags (?). This may affect the resale value if you decide to sell this bag, but it would solve this problem.

Thanks to both you long-time experts. Actually, what's the point of the felt anyway? I mean, the bag in storage isn't being knocked around... why would it suddenly get scratches?

Hi - I leave all my bags in their dustbags closed like I would normally wear them - sangles inside the turn lock with the turn lock closed and the sangles sitting in their support brackets. I stuff the bags with some bubble wrap to hold their shape and store them upright and haven't had any problems at all. I save the felts to have them but don't use them for daily storage.

I do keep some of my larger bags out of their dustbags which I display on shelves in my closet and home office. Both are temp and humidity controlled spaces and I use good MERV13 filters in my house AC and none of my bags on display are exposed to direct sunlight. I figure if Hermes keeps bags (many of them exotics worth far more than any of my bags) on display out of their dustbags, it's got to be ok for me.

I regularly 1) polish/clean the hardward with a cleaning cloth. This one came recommended on several forums and it's worked really well - they have one for sliver and another for gold hardware - https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B09QMQ47SL/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&th=1

And I regularly wipe down the leather (inside and out) with cadillac leather lotion. This was recommended to me by several hermes afficionados I know and it's kept all my leathers supple and clean and doesn't leave any residue or discoloration. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B008VJ95JE/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&th=1 - i am sure to use a clean microfiber cloth that I wash after a few uses. This is a wax free formula good for all leathers and even exotics.

I have been very happy with this leather care routine and the condition of all my bags.

My routine for care and storage ..

The point of the felt is to prevent the sangles from leaving indentations on the flap, and to prevent the flap from leaving indentations on the body of the bag. Also, prolonged contact between two pieces of leather may cause the surfaces to stick together, and then peel when separated.
