If you plan to carry your Birkin by hand, the B25 is plenty comfy (IMO). If you want to slip your hand through the bag's handles and carry it on the crook of your arm....that's a challenge with the B25. Congrats on finding what works for you. A nice SA can make all the difference. As a serious big tote lover I have always been inclined to aim for the HAC or B40 but these days it is really about function and purpose. No birkin yet, but have had a chance to try on 35, 30 and 25.
I want an everyday, casual and light weight (mini) tote bag. Already have travel bags and work bags so 35 was out.
I had initially been concerned about a 30 being to small but after trying it in my opinion it is still too big for what I carry on the daily. I also had the chance to get my HG small Bottega Veneta Cabat that lands a size between a 30 and 35 but is significantly lighter as it is lamb skin. I know it is a very different bag to a Birkin but I don’t want or need a repeat size.
After a lot of considerations, for me, it is now definite a 25 that I want. (I had such a great experience with the nicest SA ever at my store that really gave me time to try on everything and browse before adding my wish).
The only con I can find about the B25 is the handles, but honestly I really don’t mind it as much as people complain about it. The 30 definitely had super comfortable handles but the 25 is absolutely OK, maybe I have small hands but personally I am used to my briefcase being hand carry only and the benefit is again that the bag will never get too heavy because there is a limit to what you can put in it.
To echo the advise of others on here I would really think about how you will use the bag.
Here is a mod shot 30 vs 25.
For reference, I am 173cm or 5,8”, athletic build.
Completely agree and same advise and point my SA raised when I said 25 vs 30. The arm carry I do the depending on the bag and definitely a plus, but then again, if I need hands free I always have a foldable shopper in my bag, problem solvedIf you plan to carry your Birkin by hand, the B25 is plenty comfy (IMO). Thanks, very kind of you.I also have to comment that I like your outfit! Very classic and things that I would copy. hah.
Thanks. I hope you get your perfect bag!Agreed. I also asked my SA about the sizes. My SA now knows my style well and has suggested 35 for me, which I plan to get. The B25 looks great on you!![]()
Hey guys (and gals!)
I was wondering if anyone had any more information on the Kelly Maxi 42 in terms of color options? I’ve seen black, etoupe (thanks @pegase_h!) and gold online and here, but I’d love to know if it’s being made in other colors as well or if it’s more limited. I did try asking Hermes directly on their website chat, but they basically said they had no answer (not too surprised - I don’t think I’ve ever gotten a reasonable answer there about anything I’ve asked, but that’s a separate topic). I thought I would ask here in case anyone has discussed it with their SAs. I’ll bring it up again during my next visit later this month, too. Thanks!
I still have my dream of getting a blue bag - deep blue is my favorite Hermes leather color but I’m adaptable haha. I would jump at the chance to do a SO for one, but I didn’t see it as an option on the most recent SO picture posted here, only the K40.I am glad that there's at least one TPFer who also wants K42! I have seen K42 in black, etoupe, gold, and lighter gold (I don't know the exact name of color). Oh, I also have seen it in caban (i.e., black-ish dark navy). K42 is a limited edition (i.e., "rare," I guess....? but who cares, lol. I just love it as regardless of rareness...) and comes with the palladium hardware only.
What color do you hope to get? I think most bags come with the popular colors (e.g., black, gold and etoupe for sure). If they don't have the color of your choice, they may be able to get it through "a la carte" (or special order) order?
Cheers,
Aha, gotcha! I am not sure if "deep blue" is a popular color in H, but I think it is doable. Thank you. Both 25 and 30 look great on youWhat colour are you aiming for?
Yes a 25 B in dark neutral will be so wearable, good luck and wish you get your bag soon 😏Thank you.
I really love blue hues so anything on the lines of deep blue, would be ideal or classic noir as that goes with everything. However, I am a sucker for bleu france and absolutely love yellow bags so a jaune d’ambre or jaune de naples would also be amazing.
As a first B, for me, it would be best to go for a darker neutral to get the most wear out of the bag, also taking into consideration the climate here.
Buuuut, a muted yellow would definitely come home with me if offered one.![]()
