Hey guys!

Looking to purchase a Togo HAC 40 in Paris within the next few months and was wondering if some of you could tell me your experiences with purchasing men’s bags at the Paris boutiques.

Did you need a leather appointment for men’s bags or is this something more needed for women’s bags? If not, which boutiques did you find had the best stock and were most accomodating?

Any info you can enlighten with would be great :) Also, if anyone knows the current price of a HAC 40 in Europe that’s a double bonus.

Thanks guys!

Question: Do you think B40 would be too big for me? Pics attached when I tried B40. Compared to Kelly Depeches 36 (=36 cm) as shown in my earlier posts, would 40cm be too big? I am between 5'6 or 5'7. I thought length and height of B40 were great, but the width was very wide...? Any suggestions for those who have B40 (or B35)? Will I end up getting both B35 and B40? LOL (I just need one bag... lol) Thank you in advance!

It very much depends what you want it for; what you want to carry.
Do you want an open tote (Birkins are usually used with the flap folded) or a closed brief case.
They are types of bag.
The width of a B40 is quite large and becomes proportionally larger as the length increases.

For B, I would leave it open when I use it... then, it means... B35? Or still B40? 😅

I think it looks fairly proportionate on you, but I would not go for a 40 unless you intent to use it for travel mostly.

I am probably similar height and build and while I do not own a B, I did try on a 35 in store, and found even that to be far too big for my needs.
I do can imagine it being the perfect briefcase / travel bag and larger everyday carry.

If I were you, I would be very mindful choosing any large tote and think carefully about how you intend to use it. I expect a B40 to get very heavy very quickly.
(I have an uomo cabat from BV that I use occasionally for work trips and it weighs about the same empty as a B40 would. Unlike a B, the cabat can actually slide onto my shoulder when not wearing a jacket but it’s still a total workout when I carry it.)

I suggest you aim for a 35 but personally I would definitely go for a 25 or 30 max for private use, but it would be for leisure as I would never carry H or any recognisable expensive bag to work or client meetings.

Happy hunting :)

Echoing @J.T. 's sentiments here.

I personally prefer the 35 for sure over the 40. I sold my 40 as soon as I got the 35. The 40 was a lot more cumbersome and heavy, and feels more like a travel bag than an everyday tote.

Going forward, I am aiming to add a B25/30 to my collection, but only after I get a K28/25 and a C18/24.

Thank you, @J.T. and @Prada Prince ! You both provided great insights! :)

Honestly I think it works perfect for you Assuming that need something for your laptop /moffice? I am just slightly taller and found a 35 definitely too small for me both from a capacity and proportion perspective.

Echoing @justdennis84 that I think B40 looks awesome on you!
I have both B35 and B40 and love them equally. B35 as a daily work bag and B40 when I travel. So I vote for you getting both :)

I think both sizes are fine, although because I own two HAC40s, I think I may want a Birkin 35 more than a 40 now so I can have more size variation between Birkin and the HACs. That is, if I'm ever offered one.
