Perhaps @vaz will chime in. I've discovered dying the leather is not an easy quick task. It does take time and patience. It only took one hour for me to do my belt, but I'd like a richer darker blue, free of "top pigment". If you're considering dying a bag I would look at YouTube videos on the craft before beginning or investing. I've visited and spoken with a specialized leather store and a shoe repair shop, which specializes in dying leathers and they both told me, it's not easy. <lol> The pigment from the dye sitting on top of the leather and bleeding can be a challenge. I noticed some of the projects demonstrated on Youtube do not have a consistent even finish. I think the larger the area the more difficult it is to achieve an even finish. I'm skilled in crafts and an array of DIY techniques, however achieving a quality result from dying leather is not the easiest project I've taken on.
I've decided not to dye the existing DA Speedy, but I will continue to practice with the dye for future projects. I'd like to perfect this skill (if it's possible) I purchased these leather tags to practice on before I started my project.
@vaz - how is the dye holding up on your bag ?
