Someone asked me if my Coach purse was fake...

The whole concept of "purse parties" just boggles my mind. Though admittedly, a couple months ago I wouldn't have realized that the bags they were hawking at those parties were fakes because I knew nothing about the matter altogether (til I fell in love with Coach!). Did she even know that she was buying fakes at these parties? Cause I mean if you are going to spend hundreds....why not get the real thing?! :girlsigh

I never really noticed fakes until I started substitute teaching this past week. I saw so many fakes in the middle school it was unreal.

It cracks me up how normal, law abiding citizens will think there's nothing wrong with a fake purse party. It's okay to look the other way. Mothers going with daughters - sending a clear message that it's okay to break the law for some things but not others.
I think people that sell AND buy fake bags should be prosecuted. Especially the people that KNOW BETTER.
ok end rant :)

i have been asked if my bags are real and i proudly say yes, and when they ask how to tell if hers is a fake ill tell her...yes some who know their bag is fake and mine is real will avoid me in class but its ok, i would too if i were in there situation.

Last summer I was in a wine store and I had my patchwork tote with me. There was a woman there who had a fake version of the tote and she was standing next to me at the tasting counter. The man who was pouring the wine asked if we were together because we had the same bag. (MEN!) The woman looked embarrassed and started explaining that mine was real and hers was fake, but then went into a whole thing about how stupid it is to pay for a real one. I had no intention of saying anything about her bag but after that I had had enough and said IF the real ones are so stupid to own, WHY are you trying to look like you bought one by carrying a fake? Why not just buy a cute bag that fits the price you want to pay? It's just so sad that you need to put me down so you can feel better about buying a counterfeit bag. She walked away in a huff but she probably didn't try to play that head game any time soon! Sheesh!

You said it. What's up with the put down? Totally rude.

Yea, she was fully aware she was going to be buying fakes. She justified it by saying that the fakes were so good that it's hard to tell if they're real or not. And she even mentioned that her best friend buys the real Coach all the time and that she was going to spend a few hundreds at the party.

Looking back at it, I wonder if her friend knew...I dunno.

Yeah it's annoying someone asked me if my Coach sunglasses (I'm a junior in HS, had my case out on my desk in class because I was wearing them on my head) were real and i was like um yeah and she was like oh wow. I usually find that the people who ask can't afford the Coach stuff no offense

thats right honey you tell her, thats exactly what i would have said! why pretend when it'd be more worth the money to just buy something within your budget? grr! :cursing:

wow...someone asked me the same thing...i bought the white and pink hamptons weekend outlet only release and this girl asked me is your purse real??? where did it come from i have never seen it...i was so mad....

That is the perfect response - to ask why she would want to look like she was carrying one if she thought it was stupid to spend so much on a real one! Why would she want to pretend to be "stupid"?!

Ugh, how people can support fake bags when they criticize other copyright infringements (like plagiary) is beyond me!

Oh dear, "purse parties" really bother me. The other night I had an argument with a waitress about whether or not purse parties sold authentic bags or not. She was complimenting my bag and said, "Oh, the other day I went to a purse party and they had that exact bag for like $60! They also had like Pradas and LVs, Guccis etc."

I told her, "You know, purse parties are just selling wholesale knockoffs made via slave labor in China." She was rather offended and said, "Oh no, these were very real. The lady selling them said they just had some manufacturer defects so the stores wouldn't carry them."

I told her, "Well, they're fake. Most of those companies, especially LV destroy all of their defective bags before they ever leave production."

Of course she still didn't believe me, or didn't want to because she had likely spend a bundle on a couple of fake bags.

It's just so sad that people believe and buy from these purse party theives.
