Hi all, I may be going crazy, but I’ve noticed that the recent Togo pieces I’ve seen have mostly been slouchier and larger grained than usual.

Case in point, I was offered a black k28 with gold hardware today, and I almost thought it was Clemence when my dear SA opened the box. (Will do an unboxing soon when I find the time).

Has anyone else noticed/encountered this? I hope it’s not going to be a quality issue down the line.

Yeah, I am unclear as to the problem. Togo is too much like Clemence? i prefer Clemence so I personally would be fine with that, and looks like OP took the bag, so what is the issue?
Togo has always varied a lot. I have three Togo bags: one very glossy and veined, one veinless and medium in gloss, one very matte. All are nice and thick. The Togo on my black B35 is so luscious that I can't give it up despite really wanting black Barenia or box!

I just got a Gold Togo Birkin in May 2018 and I LOVE THE TOGO on this bag!
My Birkin has virtually no veining and is thick and smells divine!!!! She is very structured too.

I will say I got a Black Togo K28 in 2016 that I was very disappointed in. The leather felt dry, thin and the skin appeared "ashy". I didn't keep that bag for long at all.

Do you mean this one?: https://forum.purseblog.com/threads/not-satisfied-with-togo-help.940896/page-2

Unfortunately, the OP edited her opening posts so it's hard to get the point (that everyone else is talking about).

Thanks for linking! It didn’t come up in search. It seems that the OP of the other post was having the opposite problem with a Togo that’s too stiff (which is what I’m used to)? The other thread is also much older. I think I’ve only been noticing the softness in the recent month or so.

Anyway, I just thought I was going crazy bc the texture felt too much like Clemence and is really soft and floppy.

Agreed. I got it because I don’t mind clemence. I just thought it was weird that it’s much floppier than I’m used to.

@varvara covered this change in Togo in her post here. Sharing a snippet of it that's relevant to what @_pinkcow is referring to.
Ok, so first hand and fresh update.
I was shipped my new Kelly 35 and received it yesterday.
I can report, that the Togo on this Kelly looks like Clemence. Grains are flat and bigger, the only difference is that it's lighter. If it did not say 'Togo' on the receipt and I would not know the weight difference of Togo vs CT, I would think it's CT.
The front panel is nice, soft veining (which I personally do not mind), nice chosen and balanced skin.
The grains on the back are a tad bigger, still it's nicely proportioned, BUT the back panel has a bit of slouch already.

@papertiger can decide if this should be moved to that thread as well since @_pinkcow is implying potential quality issue down the line.

Quite right, although OP is not suggesting necessarily thinner or more inferior, just slouchier and larger grained (hence more Clemence-like)

It seems a batch thing and I also think it depends which bag model and in what size shows it more.
