So sad....

You know what is beautiful? Not the watch but the memory that you have of that day...the watch is just a tangible proof of the memory. They didn't steal that- nobody can ever steal that from you and you don't need the proof or the reminder. Buy the replacement watch and go on as if this never happened. You know that your dad would not want you feeling a moment's regret over the gift that he gave you. It wasn't a watch after all, it was his love:yes:.

Exactly...I agree with everything you said. I have to think this way, otherwise I would go crazy. It was a fabulous, wonderful day, AND no one can take that from me. Thank you all for the kind words and thoughts.

Oh my god, I'm so sorry. It's so sad and terrible that the watch is missing, especially that it's such a special watch. I think you should talk to the people who where in the house (even if they're your friends) and nicely ask them if they haven't seen the watch by any chance, when they were house-sitting (don't ask them in a way you're accusing them, but just if they maybe saw it somewhere), because it's a very important watch to you. I really hope you'll find it.

I'm so sorry for your loss. Good luck with the insurance thing even though I know it will never really replace the watch. Your memory of your father and the love for him you will always have. Keep hope that it may still turn up.

My parents have a built in safe b/c they live in Florida and they worry about floods...this is waterproof (though my mom still puts everything in plastic bags) and fireproof. I think they purchased it and had it professionally installed from an expert. It's so funny, b/c everytime I'm there my mom tests me on how to open it and I can never do it!! I didn't even bother to try this last visit (just got home), thank God my husband can do it!
