So hows coach now?

There are some TPFers complaining about the quality of the new hardwares now, especially the black hardware chipping and the brass hw being plated. Oh and the glovetan leather feeling cheap. I was shocked because the prices for the 1941 is high.

I was planning on getting a Rogue 25 but I think I’ll go for another brand instead. I bought a Dark fairytale strap and took it with me to Disneyland. Came home and noticed the hangtag chipped already. So disappointed.
I'll note that I have 2 Rogue 25's and 10 total Coach 1941 bags. I don't have noticeable chipping on the black hardware. I love the quality - particularly the Rogue. The leather is fantastic, suede side pockets, lovely details for the price. JMTC. HTH.

Agree, love the quality and that glovetanned leather! I must be extra harsh on my bags though because I have chipping on the hardware. All my dinky's (black copper and gunmetal) have chipped hardware (turnlock) and my new chambray double swagger that goes from my car seat to my office and sits on a padded mailer has chipped feet all of a sudden. I must have taken her out for happy hour or something haha. The chipping doesn't bother me because the leather makes up for it!

I used to purchase coach bags and loved it, but since 2010 I stopped buying the FP bags. I do buy a few from the outlet stores on my trips to the US (I live in Asia) and found that the quality of the outlet bags are so poor. I bought one bag in black "saffiano leather" from the outlet store and after about a few months of daily use, the wear and tear looks really bad (I'm one of those people who baby bags and I don't abuse them). Plus the signature bags declined in quality and looks cheap. So I stopped buying altogether. I do buy premier designer bags like LV, Gucci, Tods, Prada and Burberry and I particularly love LV bags. But in the past year or so prices for LV bags have increased significantly that it becomes ridiculous for me to pay that much for a bag no matter how much I love them. So then in 2016 a couple of my friends bought Coach Crosby at the FP store and I love the look and feel of it. So I bought the Crosby carryall. I think the new creative director did a pretty good job, and i bought 3 bags from Coach just this month (Grace and 2 Parkers) and have my eye on a few other designs which I have put on my wishlist.

The news bags will never compare to the glovetanned leather bags with all brass hardware in terms of longevity in my mind, but there are still many quality bags sold by Coach today.

I have also recently started buying Coach and here's my take always:

The all glovetanned (formerly 1941) bags seem very durable and have cleaner edgecoating than the MFF or other FP lines.

In general the new styles have fewer pockets and are less functional in my opinion, but they are either classier or trendier compared to the signature era.

I have only had brass, silver, or gold hardware for new items but in the few months-a year I've had them no chipping yet.

The crossgrain items are lower quality in terms of stitching and edgecoating, and most but not all are the MFF items people dislike. But they appear to hold up very well in rain and don't require regular leather treatment. Many of the MFF items are now coated canvas or fabric.

There are quality MFF lines, such as the Faye. The pebbled leather MFF bags are most reminiscent of the nice older outlet bags. Sometimes you can get FP items at 70% off at the outlets, too. Use coachtingtingchen only for tracking the price of MFF items to get the best price.

The fobs are way more expensive than equivalent and mostly leather fobs from 10 years ago or so.

Compared to Kate Spade, Dooney and Bourke, or Michael Kors I think Coach is the best trade off between style, leather quality, and price but you have to wait for stuff to go on sale and some hot items sell out before that.

Customer service is unpredictable and glitchy compared to other major companies (PayPal return issues, inventory not always known, etc.).

Most of the hardware is not replaceable including the revised turnlock plates, unlike on the vintage bags.

I used to like Coach before they got all the signature / fabric bags that every teenager seemed to have. It somehow lost its appeal. But in the last few years, signature styles are very much less and with the newer designs they have won me back. I don’t mind paying up to 800-1000 Canadian for an excellent quality bag that I can really feel the quality. And their newer styles are more appealing to me than the plethora of slouchy fabric bags they had covered in C logos which to me looked cheap.

I own two Dreamer bags now. A black quilted Lambskin with rivets all over the front which is impeccable and feels better than the lamb on the Chanel I have! I did pay full price for that one in the boutique. The second was an eBay find brand new with tags chalk colour with exotic / snake. It’s basically white / black and the hardware is both gold and gunmetal colour. I can’t say how the feel is on that one as I am still waiting for it to be delivered.
I also fell in love with the Parker 18 chain bag grey/ gold with exotic, and the pink Parker 16 backpack with tea rose turnkock.

My gateway bag was a black Coach messenger bag purchased in 2002 from an outlet about 90 miles away from my house. I carried the bag off and on for years, everything about the bag was high quality. Between then and now I have indulged in some very beautiful Italian and French bags, a couple of weeks ago we were at the same outlet mall for lunch, so after 17 years I went into the same Coach outlet to see if they had any bags from the 1941 line. I got lucky and found a few at the back of the store, I fell totally in love with the Rogue. I’m thrilled Coach has returned to its roots by using beautiful leathers, hardware, & quality craftsmanship. I have a feeling these bags will last, the leather is divine and the designs are beautiful, I feel the creatives at Coach are really doing an outstanding job. What a treat to find high quality bags this beautiful at an outlet store. I say embrace the outlets and have fun discount shopping!D207BB0C-3363-43E1-BE47-D15EACF4D614.jpeg 55C53037-B7E7-44E7-A9AC-327EF3811B91.jpeg

At first I wasn't really into Coach but I would say during the last year, I have come to love the brand and some of the designs, and have built up quite a collection. I have no problems with design or quality (a lot better than other contemporary brands like Kate Spade and Michael Kors).
