I was admiring this beauty in the large size yesterday, but was trying to decide if the shape is too similar to the Kristin sage of which I have may colors. I was so tempted to buy it, but I keep feeling like if I wait, one of the department stores will have a discount of some sort. It's been awhile since I've paid full price for a Coach bag because I've always used PCE's or gotten a discount from another retailer.

I understand exactly what you mean. I haven't paid full price for a Coach bag in years, thanks to PCE's and dept. store discounts, coupons, etc. I passed on a beautiful bag over the weekend because I just didn't want to spend $500.+ tax on it. So we are now faced with a dilemma: bite the bullet and pay full price for a bag we love, or take a chance that it will be cheaper elsewhere, but it may not ever be, and then Lose the bag because we waited too long! It's Russian Roulette and there are no guarantees. I think that if I really want/love a bag, and don't want to risk losing it, I'll end up paying the full price. :hrmm:

It's funny- Coach is succeeding in tempting us
to pay full price; now, I can't stop thinking about it. I was contemplating exchanging one that I
never used (the black Madison drawstring) for the Smythe; then, I would only owe $159+ tax and the drawstring one has been sitting there with the tags, never used.

I think that many of us may follow suit, exchanging a bag that we may not have yet used, doing the math, and paying the difference for another bag that we may have liked better, even though it is more expensive. :shucks:

Bloomingdales's had a 25% off sale last week that included all Coach. The only thing is I really wanted the Smythe in Olive and it must be a Coach exclusive because I haven't seen it at department stores. I may settle for Black because I'm a "never pay full price shopper" pretty much with everything. Someone mentioned that Macy's is having a 25% off sale this Wednesday that will include all Coach.

I saw the olive Smythe yesterday at the Coach store. I think it is soo elegant looking. Love the hardwae, and the signature lining. I've been buying Coach for a few DECADES and the lining is very nostaalgic for me. I am hoping the leather softens a bit. Can anyone attest to that?

I really like the large one, but I wish it came in more colors. I have too many black and camel colored bags to count! What do you think of the leather on this bag? I can't tell if it is a lightweight, good quality leather or cheap feeling?

I just fell for the bag on the website and immediately came here to see what the reviews were like.
I will be seeing friends in Madison next week, and of course i will get a Madison Blythe as a souvenir of my trip!
Very excited :D
