I sleep and shower with my Sydney Evan gold hamsa necklace. Its so small and light I forget its on. Its like a part of me and never comes off. I plan to get the Roseark horizontal gold cross soon and I will do the same with that one.

My mother used to tell me not to do that b/c gold is porous and continually showering it with it on will weaken the gold and it would break. I didn't believe her, so I always wore my gold bracelet in the shower....and it broke.

When I grew older and got my engagement ring I asked my jeweller about this and he said that yes, it's true.

I sleep, shower, whatever in my jewellery. thats why I try to always buy gold because I dont want to do anything that would tarnish silver. but when I do where silver...usually tiffany then i do all the same activities I just try to avoid hot tubs or anything that would turn it black! but my jewellery just stays on, unless im changing jewellery or cleaning it.

you're not suppose to shower with your pearls on, MOP jewelry included. they are organic materials and will be damaged. in general, i do not wear any of my jewelry when i shower or wash my hands. i don't like the gunky build-up.

I have three necklaces I wear to sleep in: two titanium chain links and one RTT $80 on a ball chain, all Tiffany. The titanium looks new, the silver less so, but I play football streetball etc. in them. Everything else I take off. I would never wear any jewelry in chlorine, even gold (especially gold).

I'm a nut with all my other silver pieces. A single scratch would kill me.

I sleep and shower with everything but earrings - I ALWAYS take my earrings out. When my fiance FINALLY gives me my new ring, I don't think I will shower in that - but I am ok showering with my necklace/e-ring/other ring now.

I sleep/shower in my necklace that my SO gave me, I can sleep/ shower with necklaces, rings, earrings, but the the one thing I cant sleep in is my charm bracelet or any bracelet for that matter. I used to be able to but now it just annoys me.
