Simple bag for complicated times

I don't know if i am compensating for the current world crisis and wanting to simplify and de stress or if I am just tired of fooling with designer bags. But I became obsessed with getting a simple, earthy, natural, full grain quality leather tote, with no lining and no edge paint, that will show marks and become more beautiful with age. After much research (what else do we have to do, lol) and upon the recommendation of my TPF friend, I bought a Portland Leather Classic zip tote. It came today and it is exactly what I wanted.
It smells wonderful, the leather is gorgeous (honey is the color), the workmanship is really good, weight is OK, perfect size. It won't be everyone's cup of tea, or maybe no one else's cup of tea, but I am thrilled with it. I suppose it is my Covid 19 bag, simple to use, easy to carry, uncomplicated.

This bag looks great on you. I think many of us are on the same wavelength right now. I don't have the energy for anything fussy either, and find myself only using bags (and wearing shoes) that are useful and comforting. :hugs:

How true. I plan to carry it until it is safe to go out again, no matter how long that takes. Notice that I used the word “plan” to do this because we bag people are known to change our minds at the drop of a hat (a bag).

@southernbelle43 lol I keep liking the bags that you've already liked. First Massaccesi's verona goodness, then DP, and now Portland Leather Goods. Do you still have this tote? If so, how did it wear over time and what's the size of yours? Is it more on the slouchy side or structured side?

Lol. I don’t have it. I either gifted or sold it It was not a huge bag, but it was too big for me. After I gave it to her I bought another one that I liked a lot better. The Colonel Littleton tote which I still have and still use. It is smaller, not quite as pretty, but to me it is the perfect no maintenance tote. I bought it in buffalo leather. Sorry I cannot tell you more about the Portland.

No worries. Your initial review is very helpful. Enjoy your Colonel Littleton tote!
