Gorgeous bags ladies. I have been wanting a purple bag for a long time. Several times we (my wife and I) have set out to find a purple one but always get distracted with another bag. I have a Purple studded Treesje Marley on my wish list and I think this thread has motivated me to begin the hunt so wish me luck and if you know of one please share.

Hey all:

I hate to revive a dead thread but being a new member I can't start my own thread without making posts (unfortunately I don't have anything to contribute! Haha). This seemed to be the most reasonable existing thread.

I'm a guy looking to purchase a purple leather purse for my wife as a present. I'm hoping to surprise her since this is the last thing she'd ever expect me to pick out for her...so I'm coming here for your advice so I don't completely flop!

I'm looking to spend $100-200 and would like a new purse. This is my first attempt buying a purse for her and I don't want to spend an exorbitant amount on something she may not love. I just browsed the internet a bit and these are similar to the three purses she most often wears: One, Two, and Three. She also wears a navy colored purse often that I couldn't find anything similar to. The only one that is exact is the third one, but hopefully you get the idea of her style. My wife wears mostly whites, grays, and blues. Do you think that purple would make a nice addition?

She is not big into any specific brand, and if anything would prefer to have no conspicuous labels (she doesn't like the C patterning on those Coach bags, for example). She is more concerned with the actual quality of items. For purses, she only wears leather.

So, other than wondering if purple would be a good choice to begin with (she currently has no purple purses), I'm looking for any suggestions you may have for purses in that approximate price range (will go to $300). Also, I found a few online myself and would appreciate any input on if you think they would be appropriate (Etsy purse, Kate Spade purse, Hype purse).

I'm looking most closely at the Etsy one, but I really don't trust myself. I really need your help!

Thanks a million,

John

HI John,
May we ask her age range, what type of work she does (is she a student, or does she work in an office setting, or is she an artsy type?)
These can help narrow down the vast choices out there.

BTW, here are my two purple bags!!

Thanks for the response, LabelLover. She is 29 and is a chemist. It's hard to explain the environment...although it is very casual. The dress code is true casual, not business casual.

Then you're going to want something versatile. Might I also suggest Marc by Marc Jacobs? Marc Jacobs is KNOWN for purple bags, and they are really quite beautiful. Those bags can easily go from day to night, and are not the usual boring bags that you would see on the street. They are "logo-free" and made of beautiful high quality leather.

You can check them out at Nordstrom:

Hopefully that helps! Good luck to you!
