No, it didn't come with a box, I wish it did. My order from Barneys didn't even come with a receipt or anything. 😒
I'm your height, and when I first got my large bucket, I thought it seemed huge. I've gotten used to the size now and love it. It molds a bit to your body too as it breaks in.
I felt exactly the same way when I got my first MG bucket. It was a regular one in black/flamma and after the first disappointment had vanished I was still unsure and sold it on ebay.
Then I searched for a mini bucket and bought it. A few days later when I still thought about the regular bucket I had sold I found a regular cammello/sun bucket on Matches and ordered.
Now the cammello bucket is my mostly used MG bag.
But I still do not regret that I let my black bucket go. The regular size still feels a bit bulky but together with a more casual color I love the style. Now I am hunting for a mini bucket in black...
I'm with you. I received my black/flamma and cammello/rosa large buckets yesterday and I'm surprisingly underwhelmed. They are soooo stiff.
As of now I am keeping the black (purchased from OC so no returns). I was super excited for the relaunch next week but now I think I'll hold off and spend some quality time with just one bag.
I was also a little surprised at how pale the rosa interior was, especially in contrast to the cammello (which I know will darken). Maybe a Dolly (or a Peony, if they ever did that) would be better for me.
As for the size, I envision wearing this as a cross body, or getting the straps soft enough to tie and shorten. Maybe you could try that, too?

You're right, right now if given the chance I would prob swap my regular for a mini - but these bags are so elusive and minis are almost impossible to find!
Do they make less mini bags - or are they just stocked less? I agree, I don't see as many mini buckets for sale as regular buckets.
Thedseer, EmmaPeel and kkg47- thanks for your comments! It gives me hope that others felt the similar ambivalence that I did when first seeing the bag. I do think I will grow to love it so I'm going to keep it for now. The great thing about MG is its not hard to resell if one changes her mind! 😁
Seems that way right?! I've scoured all the stockists and there's rarely any mini buckets. In fact I've only come across one but it was in peony (not my colour at all!) Weirdly though, I got the impression - rightly or wrongly - that ppl on this forum seems to own more minis than regulars (from the mod shots and comments).
Anyway I've just gone ahead and ordered a Brandy/avion minibucket with PS department. This will be my third MG purchase this month - I've gone from no MG to an MG family in the space of 10 days! 😳
My mini bucket in camello/sun that came today!
Like everyone, the leather was super stiff when I took it out of the bag. I conditioned it and put sprayed a protective spray after and it got softer. I can't wait to use it!
For those wondering, I used Bick 4 leather conditioner and Roots Rain and Stain Protector.

I see you've already ordered a mini..you will love it. I have a canvas mini and it has been my go to summer bag, so maybe you'll add one to your family too???
Actually I've gone a bit nuts (think reading too much Purseforum will do that to you!) and ordered 2 mini buckets - the brandy from PS and a black/avion from Betgdorf. 😳 Both pre-orders but I figured by the time I receive my black one from BG (in late Aug), I will have spent enough time to know whether to keep the black bucket in mini or regular.(hopefully it will not be too hard to sell the other!)
The PF has been rough in my wallet as well! I think your BG order is for a black/royal-brandy is the only color to come with avion I believe. I hope you like the mini size--I justified my need for both of course! Enjoy! [emoji3]
