I bought 2 evening clutches for both my proms (I lost one then found it, silly me). One is black with a diamond styled clasp, the other is longer and ruched black. Then I impulsively bought a BCBG iridescent one, I said I'd wear it everywhere but haven't yet. I think I might focus on clutches over bags this upcoming year too. Bag ban doesn't mean clutches ;)

I love clutches / pochettes. Perfect for the essentials! All of mine have removable straps so they can be worn as true clutches, large wristlets or small crossbodies

My fab four are a mono canvas LV pochette, a baby blue Vernis LV pochette, a mustard yellow D&B fold over clutch & a Milly leather animal print fringe clutch 👍

I have a black patent YSL Belle du Jour. I also have a blue LV Fascinate, Damier Eva and a red Epi Pouchette that can all be used as a clutch.

I'm right in that boat with you, elisian! I have lots of pocketbooks, but I do really need some clutches! They are my new desires! Do you use your black or mauve clutch the most?

Two clutches, both envelopes: black croc-print foldover, mauve snakeskin envelope (vintage). I need more too! But I've spent so much money on large bags in 2014; in 2015 I can move on to clutches.

Black, for sure!

ETA: If I'm honest, though, I often go out with a taupe/brown crossbody strap bag (vintage Dooney & Bourke). I'm not a big clubber etc, and have a very casual, low-key style.

Two Mcqueen de manta (the naive pagan, and the red floral one), one Coach clutchable in printed python, one Kate Spade piano clutch, and one BCBG colorblock. Will probably add two more Kate Spade before the end of this year, and more KS come spring 2015.

Here are some of mine (yes, it's taken me that long to get it together and answer you :shame:) obviouslt the Green in NOT a clutch. These are just my Guccis, I have plenty of others including 2 vintage H and a lovely smart Delvaux that has built in card slots. All my clutches must be able to hold some kind of mini make-up kit, my phone (which is small) my (paired-down) keys and a card or 2. The trick is I don't go too flat.

My rules, but for me, the bigger the dress, the smaller the evening bag should be and always a clutch with a full length. I wear a little handheld or chain bag with cocktail length suit or dress. I think one metallic and a black with a bit of bling is perfect

I have 3 that I use; a black polished leather one from Okay's, and 2 by Guess, a Silver Shrine in Pewter and a Campari gold one. That's it. I don't party all that much so I don't really need more, plus the Silver Shrine is SO gorgeous I just use it as my main accessory instead of a lot of jewelry. It's been my go-to festive choice for over 6 yrs and the love hasn't faded. Whenever I want to get off easy and just throw on my little black or red dress, dress up my skinnies or go without jewelry altogether it's what I seem to be reaching for every single time. It's kinda weird since I intensely dislike reptile print but SS has got an alligator print trim...
The Campari doesn't get the use she deserves, I've been neglecting her lately. I just so rarely wear gold jewelry!
I use the Okay's clutch for informal/super formal outings/business meetings and also when I'm going out to dinner etc. It's Finnish work from start to finish and a nice, understated piece that can stand the test of time. I prefer it to just about any other cluch on the market, including high end because it's timeless, high quality, has no visible logos and it was a bargain.
I don't want to buy anything high end or expensive for evening use since I'm all about comfort and don't feel like I need any more than these 3, but without any one of them my collection would be incomplete.
