I have this thread to thank for my obsession with acquiring the perfect Plume . The last post by ForeverInPink ,and talking to a mutual TPF friend made me hope that my first Plume may be in Barenia or Vache Naturelle.
I bought this bag thinking it was Barenia as described by the consignment store, and hoping it would be Ebene.
It isn't Barenia and at first I was  and considered returning it .
With Docide's help we decided the leather was Gulliver .My main attraction to Barenia was on account of the hardiness and all weather-ness as well as the visuals .
Researching Gulliver it seems that this leather has those qualities , it's drawback is that scratches don't form the famous patina . There are small scratches already and they aren't bothersome and in fact make me quite gung ho about using the ebag in a carefree way.
Yes , my pout has turned to a :nuts::heart: and I'm in love with my beautiful Gulliver Plume from 1999
Can anyone ID the colour?
It's very dark brown with a hint of purple especially in artificial light . The colour seems changeable and is v hard to capture on camera .
IRL the colour is most like that on the photos 1 and 3 which were taken with the Mac Webcam The photo on the Metamorphoses scarf was taken using a good camera in daylight ,but shows too much reflection .

What color is the stitching and the resin around the handles?
I have a Havane Togo HAC from 99 and the stitching has a pinkish- red tint.
My Ebene barenia Kelly has some lightness to the stitching, not quite as light is yours is showing in the photos, but similar. I don't notice any purple undertones in Havane at all, but my bag is Togo. Havane is a warm brown. Ebene is a bit cooler, but you bag could also be another brown, like Cacao. Either way, it's a fabulous bag, and gulliver is the precursor to swift, which is the primary leather of current plumes. I love the way gulliver/ swift looks and feels on the plume- it's the perfect leather for the unadorned nature of the bag.

It's beautiful, congrats FrouFrou!!! As for color, my money is on Marron Fonce, it has a purplish undertone just as you describe and as shown in your pics.

Ebene has an olive-gray undertone, and Chocolate/Cacao's undertone is reddish. Havane is more of a true brown, with slight reddish/orange undertones in certain lights.

Here is CK21's photo for reference from another thread (http://forum.purseblog.com/threads/etoupe-chocolate-brown-marron-fonce.311310/), clockwise the colors from Bolide on left are Marron Fonce, Ebene and Chocolate (wallet):

Again, congrats and enjoy your beautiful new bag in the best of health!!! [emoji171][emoji171][emoji171]

Thank you Monceau an Ebene Barenia Kelly  , oh another sleepless night I fear!
The stitching on my Plume is a muted orange .
I'd avoided contrast stitching as I have a Rouge H Trim with white stitching and also the mother of all stitch bags, a Stitch Garden Party .
But this stitching is so harmonious , it's quite perfect. And I love that there isn't too much of it .Just enough .
I sound so smug ,but forgive me I'm infatuated!

Thank you ForeverIn Pink .
I think it is Marron Foncé, you've cracked it :flowers:. I had thought it a good possibility after trawling through all the H leather info I could find.
Now you say a reddish tinge, yes it has a reddish purple undertone.
When our mutual friend saw it she said 'Oh, Raisin! ' [ One of my dream colours] and that sealed the deal for me...

Congrats froufrou, whatever the color is, it is lovely. I'd agree with forever, it appears more like Marron fonce or Possibly prune? I've had raisin in box, which is very purple, and my chevre bolide. I'm not sure how it would render in gulliver, but I think gulliver was the precursor to swift so the color would pop? What year is your plume? Surely that would be a clue.

Thank you Lanit, I'm thrilled to have found my Plume , and so pleased to have a bag suitable for our weather, I used it today and when the rain came it was fine!
It definitely isn't Raisin which is purple with a brown tinge, it's brown but throws a purple hue in some lights and a chocolate one in others.
It's 1999 but I don't know how that would help with colour ID

I've just looked at dark brown H bags from 1999 and several seem to be the same colour and have the unusual apricot stitching, but no mention of colour name.
I'm sticking with Marron Foncé !

Hi Froufrou, I dug up this pic of a Marron Fonce K. The leather is box but if you look closely, the stitching also appears to have an orange/apricot tinge:

ForeverinPink What a stunning Kelly that is . The apricot stitching was around more on bags back then than I realised , I feel lucky to have
found one.
I've already used the new Plume more than I've ever used my lovely BBK ,the Plume is such a functional low maintenance bag ,and this Summer the weather being so temperamental Gulliver is perfect.

Lovely neutral brown dear forever! Congrats on finding your plume!

Setons compliment ( thank you seton!) reminds me to post my navy box plume with parures silk. I will have another contribution when the lighting is better.:graucho:

Is your scarf Parures de Maharajah? I think the yellow was listed on the tag as "Fluorescent" but it never seemed that way to me and doesn't look overpowering in your outfit. Love the bag.
