Hi, i have a question about new JPG birking 29. I saw someone on the street wearing it and it was so beautiful. I believe it was evercolor leather. Does hermes crafts those bags in any other leather than swift or evercolor?i started researching this bag and swift an evercolor are the only leathers I saw online and in blogs.

Picked up this Shoulder Birkin Light 29 in Bleu Abysse in Evercolor. Took extra photos to post here. I love the color! With my vision it seems to have a sight shimmer in certain lighting and angles. Took photo of handles. You might see some there. Thanks for letting me share.

Thank you for the honest feedback! Super helpful indeed!
If the style is of interest, I'd definitely suggest going in to at least try it on. There may be some who can slip it over their shoulder but again the bag will be right under the armpit. If one can live with it hanging on the wrist or forearm, again try it on, I think they will love it. My receipt says it's Birkin Shoulder Light 29 and agree it's light weight.

Although I never seen the original shoulder bag but my guess it could be worn on the shoulder. This version kept it's name 'shoulder birkin' because it's the same style just smaller. GOSH I hope I'm making sense. I better stop! LOL :flowers: Happy Memorial Day Weekend!

LOL thanks @benjinito ! I'm just too cool for school. ;)

BTW, I got offered that bag a SECOND time at my home store. and turned it down without even letting my SA finish their sentence LOL.

ETA: Ok although I am seriously afflicted with Hermes Goggle Syndrome (HGS) so give me another couple of months and I might be eating my words and posting the coolest bag ever haha.

Hermes Goggle Syndrome in full effect!
Offered (for the third time) and finally accepted in ardoise with GHW! 🤣🤣

I’ve officially been influenced!!!

LOVE this bag! Ardoise is such a fabulous color too!

I was chatting with my SA about my next bag on Wednesday and she knows I like Swift but that I don't want another B25. We got to talking about the shoulder Birkin (some of which are swift and toile or denim) and how much we both love it. I think she's inspired to find one for me. 🤞🏼

I think as long as I don’t think of it as a shoulder bag (because let’s face it, it’s not!) it’s pretty cute! I think it looks best on the forearm so would be good with a coat. The one I got is in Evercolor leather. And I love ardoise! Main reason why I accepted it!

Here are some mod shots. It feels like a fall bag so I’m trying it on with a sweater lol. I figured out what the issue was with this bag. It’s the flap! When the flap is out and buckled, it overwhelms the bag and looks disproportionate with the height of the bag. But if you tuck the flap inside, which is how I normally wear my Birkins anyways, it looks totally different and the proportions look so much better! It still doesn’t really work as a shoulder bag though and they really should’ve given it a different name, like Birkin Elan. (I can’t take credit for that- another TPFer thought of that name!) I am also digging the casual slouch of this bag. Man, those words taste good lol! 😆

Ok I took some comparison photos of the handles of the shoulder B29, B30, and B25. Of course the B29 has the longest handle and I never realized how tiny the B25 handles are lol. The B29 is also more compact compared to the B30, not just the height but also the depth, and it seems to be the middle ground between the B30 and B25. I think it would be great for someone who wants something a little lighter and less bulky than the B30, but wants a more comfortable handle than a B25. (Of course the aesthetics of an east/west bag are also different from a square bag.) I love my B25’s and I use them a lot, but the handle is definitely very small and I usually hand carry and have to be careful if I slip it onto my forearm. The B30 seems cavernous compared to the B25 and B29 and as someone who doesn’t carry a lot, it is my least used size.

I also measured the opening of the handle from the back, because the opening is actually smaller from the back vs the front. This is not the total handle drop length, just the opening where you would slip your hand/arm through, and of course there will be some variability given the hand made nature of the Birkins.

Handle opening as measured from back of the bag
B25 : 6.5 cm
B30 : 10.5 cm
B29 : 12.5 cm

I propped up the B29 so the top of the flap is about the same height as the B30 and B25 to make it easier to visualize the difference in handle lengths.

Side view- you can see the depth of the B29 is similar to the B25 and both are smaller than B30

Hope this helps!
