Should I upgrade my engagement ring?

What everyone is saying about keeping up with other people is 100% true. But just wanted to clarify something... it's not so much that I want to compete with my friends, it's more like I didn't know what was "normal" for an engagement ring when I got engaged because no one around me was. Now that many have been engaged/married, I'm like "Ohhh, no THAT is normal" iykwim? Either way, I suppose deep down I already know I wouldn't want to spend as much as they did on a natural diamond (assuming it is) and that's why I'm trying to "cheat" with a lab diamond. The desire might come up again in the future but I think it's good advice posters gave to wait until the lab diamond market settles a little more... and keep my current ring anyway for sentimental reasons.

Nothing is ”normal”. To each her own!
