Should I 'settle' for a Picotin 22 if I can't get 18?

I'm really caught between Picotin 18 and 22 (and yes, I've scoured the forum for previous topics). My issue is that I'm nowhere near a physical Hermes store, the Australian online store occasionally has a Picotin up but they disappear within seconds AND most of the colours are neutral. I'm chasing a big hit of colour this time so I'm thinking Ultraviolet, Iris, Rouge Casaque, Rubis, Rose Jaipur, Rose Poupre or similar. Even Orange/Feu may be an option. I'm throwing those colours up as I can access Picotin in those colours from resellers.

I'm finding however that secondary market Picotin 18 are more expensive compared to 22s. I'm guessing that being a hot, cute item, the 18 is popular. However, I'm not even sure if it's right for me. I know I don't want a medium sized bag (I have enough with a vintage Massai and various LVs) so I'm justifying this purchase because I don't have a smallish, going out bag that is on the dressier side. I'm 5'7" and US 6 so do you think the 22 is still going to be smallish and cute? I don't want something that will be bigger than a Speedy 25, which is the only size reference I have. I also don't want to regret not holding out for an 18.

Thoughts please?

In my opinion you should not settle on things you want and are paying for with your hard earned money. You will always have buyers regret that you didn't get your dream bag.

Wait up for the 18! If you live far away and is considering resellers, a colorful 18 is not that hard to get. Better to pay a bit premium for something that you really want rather than settle on something that you’re not going to love :)

I usually never settle- my first Pico, i was offered the choice between 18 and 22. I thought I wanted the 18 thinking it was cuter, but ended up deciding that since it was a casual bag and I am a mom, the 22 suited me perfectly. It’s lightweight, has great pop of color. And it’s one of my favorite bags.

I recently just got a second Picotin - black noir Touch with GHW, and since I love my orange 22 Pico so much, I went straight for the 22 again. I know the 18 is considered slightly trendier but I think the Noir 22 Touch is lightweight, elegant and so practical. Plus it’s more of a day bag anyway, and I have Kelly 28s and B25s, so I find my Pico 22 to be the perfect size, lightweight but hold a lot and fabulous look!

Thanks very much for all your opinions and advice! I think given I have enough totes and medium bags, I'll focus on finding the right 18. It's just hard when you don't have a real feel for either bag/size, but all I know is that I don't need another medium sized bag lol

I think later down the track if I completely switch to Team H, I'll look at adding a 22 and move on some of my medium LVs.

Thanks again!

My first picotin was P22 in noir. But I rehomed it as I never used it. Then I got myself a P18 in anemone - both pop and neutral colour! Love it as it is a fun size but later I bought a tricolor P22 (rose mexico/rose extreme/rouge de coeur). Love both sizes and I use them for different occasions - of course P22 fits a lot more stuff (which I love). I agree with you, a Picotin should be in a fun colour! All the best in finding your Picotin!
