Should I sell my Rolex?

Your wirst shot of the YM is priceless. Rolex should use this photo to advertise its YM.

The YM fits you perfectly, regardless of what style clothing you wear. It would be a pity if you rid of it. Wish I had the right wrist size to pull it off.

The only negative I can think of is the weight. If the weight does not bother you, then keep it. If you really want a DJ, then buy another Rolex. The two styles do not conflict each other. (However, I think the YM looks much bettre on you than the DJ.)

Although you keep thinking about selling your YM, you may want to first ask yourself if you will regret selling it.

I love the YM - it's my favorite Rolex. And I think it looks fantastic on you.

The DJ just seems less exciting in comparison. If you are wanting another watch for everyday (maybe something slimmer and sleeker - perhaps a quartz option since those weigh less), looking at some other models/brands would be a good idea.

Whatever you decide, just follow your gut. Keep/buy whatever you are in love with.

Christiflora, how can I argue with THAT??? :shame: Thanks! Okay, you ladies have almost convinced me to keep the YM (again). I gave it a good cleaning tonight (and discovered that I still had stickers on the underside of the case...oops) and it is all shiny and looks amazing. I do think it suits me better than the DJ, size wise. The DJ is just so classic...but I guess maybe I can add one someday. I get compliments on it when I got into Saks and "higher end" places, although I don't know if they really know what it is. But when I walked into the jewelry store the manager almost fell over when he saw it! I guess he doesn't see many out and about, especially on women.

I like the YM on you!

If you get a DJ, would you consider an all silver DJ? That would be more comparable to your YM, I think. I don't love the two tone look.

I like the Yachtmaster on you as the size suits you. Maybe you should just resize it to make it snug on your wrist. Wait for the new 2010 31mm models, you might just like them. :graucho:

ETenebris- i know you made your choice so you're keeping the YM, but....in my opinion I like the datejust better! i wear suits for work and I personally like the look of the datejust for a more polished look. maybe in the future you could invest in the datejust? and keep the YM for weekends or more casual looks.

the only thing about the YM that would bug me is the weight. i wore a chronograph for a year or so and the weight i was not a fan of. i've recently switched to a lighter thin watch...much more comfortable!

In January of this year I toyed with the idea of selling my midsize Yacht Master SS/platinum for a midsize DateJust. There is a size difference, of course...the DateJust midsize is 31mm, while the YM midsize is 35mm, and I am not a skinny girl. I have tried the 36mm DateJust, but it is too big and looks like a man's watch on me.

The plusses are: 1. Cute/sporty/blingy; 2. I sometimes use the rotating bezel if I need to time something (mostly parking meters!); 3. It IS the only "sport" watch Rolex makes for the ladies; 4. It is sort of "under the radar" as Rolexes go, so you don't see many around; and 5. It seems to be gaining in popularity.

The minuses: 1. Can be bulky when wearing a suit; 2. Fairly heavy, so it doesn't stay where I would like on my arm much of the time; 3. I got it at a good price because it was a less popular model at the time; 4. It was my first new Rolex; and 5. The price just increased across the board at Rolex, so if I regretted selling, it would be very hard to replace it for what I originally paid.

Should I keep it and just feel a bit clunky sometimes when I wear it with suits? Should I sell and get the two-tone DateJust which is the "standard" Rolex? I am asking because I have a Rolex enthusiast acquaintance who has expressed an interest in buying mine for his wife, so I guess I have to make a decision one way or the other.

Here is a pic of the watch on (this is my "optimal position" but when I am walking around the watch "falls" down onto my wrist and is loose. I have never had it sized. And another pic of just the watch.

I have just sold my bi colour yachtmaster mid size, I felt the same as you it never stayed in place on my wrist, I got it nearly 3 years ago & paid £4,260 & sold it 2 weeks ago for £3,200 the retail price is £6,180 of this watch, it was like new, I had hardly worn it as I went off of it about 6 months after buying it, I have recently purchased the 36mm SS jubilee strap datejust with new pink flower dial & I love it so much more & although it is a tiny bit bigger it does not feel like it because the bezel is not as bulky as the yachtmaster, if you have been offered a good price sell it, I do not regret it at all.:yahoo:
