Should I return my new lv speedy 30 just because of the "made in USA" tag? Advice pls

My first bag was a Totally PM that has a MIU tag. I was a little disappointed at first, but once I started using her, I haven't given it a 2nd thought! I love your bag. My next one will be a DE speedy b 30! :)

All of the recent focus on MIF makes me crazy!!! :thinkin::thinkin::lecture::shrugs:. The quality standards are the same. I know to each his or her own and what bothers one may not bother another...but to me it is just crazy! If you love the bag...that's all that matters! Congrats on your new bag!! :smile1:

My first LV was a speedy that was made in USA too. I was kinda bothered at the beginning but I didn't want to make the hassle of returning it. I've kept it and it's been 4 years now.. I still love it the same. It's held up wonderfully

I honestly don't think the bag not being stamped with the country where it was made makes it look fake. It's just one of the many changes that have happened over the years. If your bag is perfect, I'd love it to pieces. My Empreinte Speedy is made in US and doesn't bother me at all. While it's nice to find a MIF (I like them too), your bag is made just as well and of the same materials.

I have two MIU bags and am proud of it. My brother in law made a comment a while back about the high price and it's probably just made in China. I was able to proudly say that the bag I was carrying was made in the good ole USA - and we can't say that about a lot of items these days.

My DE 30 is MIU, too. Its pretty, just like yours! :) Keep it :)

I will only say that buyers on eBay seem to prefer Made In France bags. Fortunately the ones I recently sold were, because my bags were older. So if you ever plan to resell, I"d take that into account.

Before I started selling some of my stuff on eBay, I never knew where my bags were made, never looked. It wouldn't have mattered anyway, as long as I liked them. If the bag looks fine, the bag is fine. I'd say wear it and enjoy it.

I'm actually the opposite...if I'm looking on eBay I'm looking for MIU or Made in Spain because its far less likely that the bag is fake. The fakes that I've seen all have Made In France on them. They've been making fakes for YEARS with that MIF stamp. They bags r all made the same...support workers in the U.S. too.

I think Louis Vuitton themselves is partially responsible for some customers preferring the "MIF" label. Part of their marketing and branding was always focused on the trained artisans IN FRANCE who sewed their bags. So you could perhaps wrongly assume that you can't hire trained artisans lickety split in other countries, that perhaps these artisans are not instantly available or would take a long time to train.

Now it appears that is not the case at all. LV has opened factories in Spain and the US and additional ones in France, and the bags are probably the same quality. LV had to keep up with the high demand so they trained people quickly, it would appear.

In general, I love to buy products MADE IN THE USA, but there is a slight niggling sense in the back of my mind that the 75 year old guy who does the best job in the factory is probably located in France.

Interesting story from two years ago about LV factory growth.
