Should I buy my first luxury piece of jewelry, or spend it on travel?

Thank you so much for all your help k*d!!!! I'll do this. I've heard some not-so-great things about XL airways unfortunately, but I'm seeing some other reasonable numbers--1300 for Air Canada isn't bad either![/QUOTE]

Sounds as if you might be in Canada. Air Transat usually has great prices and is a Quebec company so your whole trip could be French including your flight.

There are fabulous antique street markets in Paris. Do a search for the dates of your trip and see what's on then. You might find a fabulous piece of jewelley at a great price from a vintage dealer or Depot-Vente.

Go for Paris, travelling is such a great experience. Nobody can take it away from you.
If you are not sure about the piece of jewelry that you would like to buy then more then ever choose to travel please. I think (as a European) that You will see enough in like 4 to 5 days.

2 days cultural and 3 days to shop.....

In september i think in Holland we have KLM sale weeks ( KLM/AIR France work together) maby its possible to find a cheaper roundfare but i don't remember when you were planning to go.

As for hotels/apartments etc... i am such a luxury lover but you won't be in your room when you are in Paris. I do believe that its a nice 'homecoming' after a day of sightseeing/shopping if you go back to a nice hotel but you don't need to pay so much for a hotel.

I always check booking.com and you need like 700 euro's for 5 nights

Paris!

I always dreamed of going to Paris, and I was able to two years ago. It completely met my expectations and I would go back in a heartbeat. Except for the 150€ dinner at Moulin Rouge (I know, I know), everything I ate was just incredible. I took a cooking class too and brought back some groceries to enjoy at home as well.

The museums were nice. Crowded, but interesting. I most enjoyed going into the neighborhoods and learning about the culture. People are VERY loyal to their falafel place. For shopping, we kept it pretty posh, but there were interesting thrift shops and whatnot. I purchased my YSL arty ring at Printemps, and got a discount because of the VAT.
