You know what though...if the purses is that trashed and so dirty that you don't want to carry it in that condition...you have nothing to lose.
Great to know that it can survive the ride through the washing machine...
don't get me wrong...I'd still be :wondering freakin' out while it was in there...lol

LOL... I posted the same thing you did without seeing your posting.

BTW- LOVE the Lily in your avatar.

I would do it if I had a dirty scribble bag too, otherwise I wouldn't use it and I have a front loading washer that uses very little water so it is easier on clothing and stuff.

Hi there, I know this thread is old but I wanted to contribute.

I have a Coach purse that I used daily for a year. It was really dirty, dye transfer from a black cardigan, dust bunnies inside, pencil sharpening, and spilt black tea. (Picture 1)

I couldn't sell or even donate it as is, so I figured I might as well try to throw it in the washing machine to see what happens. I put it in a delicates garment bag and tossed it in both washer and dryer. I set my dryer to low heat tumble. (Picture 2)

The result was pretty good. The outside isn't as dark, but the real magic was the inside. Everything pretty much came out!! Month old tea stain gone! (Picture 3) If it was summer, I'd leave it in the sun to dry. So I would definitely give the green light to wash your cloth/fabric Coach bags.

I can see it working within certain parameters. I have a front load machine and can wash quite a number of 'hand wash' items...

Glad it worked for you!

Congratulations! I've washed one leather bag in the machine. I've been meaning to put my daughter's cloth backpack in the machine. It has some yellow stains I haven't figured out how to treat. I've washed many bags in the sink. In the rehab club, there are several who have had success using the washing machine.

I've washed both leather and fabric bags in the washer...never put them in the dryer though. They've all turned out just fine.
