Ask for the same ring, but a different variation. So if you are looking for the YG Frivole BTF, also ask for it in WG Frivole pave. The fit will be the same. That's why my SA sent me the yellow sapphire in 52 and the pink sapphire in 53 as the 53 was not available in the yellow sapphire.

Once you decide on size, you can then order the correct one.
Which BTF ring are you thinking of getting? Let me guess... pink sapphire butterfly!

By the way, on the pink sapphire...
My husband loved loved loved the pink sapphire butterfly. He said the yellow sapphire looks fun, good for casual looks like shorts, but not good for an evening out. He said the pink sapphire has class, for a nice evening out! He's so funny. I told I am not going to get two butterfly rings. I need to get used to one first.:heart:

I do love the two separate butterflies floating on my fingers. I kept spreading my fingers to see them floating.

BTW, on the fingers is Rose Horizon. I am ready for spring, can't wait until the weather gets warmer. :hugs::heart:
Ah you are so smart I hadn’t thought of asking to try them on in their different variations! Now I feel silly. Most of the BTF rings I’ve seen weren’t in my exact size range (50-52), it was either slightly too small or too big. I really want to try on the Frivole BTF but haven’t gotten to try it on yet. The only butterflies I tried were the MOP and the Lapis but the MOP spoke to me more. I would be curious to see if I would love the pave/sapphire combo more than the MOP. I actually really love the contrast and glow of the MOP but the yellow and pink sapphires are such standouts and really packs more punch visually!

Your husband is so cute, I love that he loved the pink one on you so much! Did you happen to take photos of the pink one on you? Rose Horizon is such a fun shade with the flora & fauna jewelry theme you have going. With the WG it feels like the frost is starting to melt off into spring, loving the cheerfulness of the pop of yellow and your coral pink nails!

Omg BigAkoya! I'm speechless. Congrats! Both rings are GORGEOUS on you! I actually like both of them on at the same time. lol. ;) The yellow sapphire color really pops on you. Thanks for the info on difference in sizing between the Frivole and butterfly rings. I'm actually a 51.5 but size up to 52 so maybe a 51 will be ok for Frivole but 52 will be better for the butterfly. I still haven't had a chance to make it to the boutique. Another random question. I'm used to wearing a closed ring with even pressure around the finger. Does it bother you at all that the butterfly ring only presses against the sides of your finger and the middle is exposed? Txs!
Me too! I like the flower garden with both rings on. I plan to wear it that way too on fun days! It looks like I'm trying too hard though for more dressier events (need to go with a more classic one ring look).

If you noticed, I flipped the Frivole ring, so the larger flower is on the right, toward my pinky. This allows the yellow butterfly to nicely fit over the smaller flower as shown in the photo. If the big flower is on the left, it does not look quite the same.

When I wear my Frivole ring alone, the big flower is to the left, toward the center of my hand.

On your ring question, it does not bother me at all. On the contrary, because there are motifs on both sides of the open ring, the ring actually feels more secure than a plain ring with design at the top.

Let me explain a bit more...
I wear my rings very loose, so loose that I can actually flip them off if I tried (but who actually stands there and flips a hand so hard intentionally trying to make a ring fall off). For a ring fit test however, that is exactly what I do. This is why I like to try on both sizes at home. I sit on my bed and start flicking my hand to see if the ring falls off. If it does, that's the one! In the case of the butterfly, both the 52 and 53 fell off, which is why I kept going back and forth.

Keeping in mind I wear my rings loose, traditional rings get really really loose on me in the winter. Traditional rings rotate around my finger so the gemstone is on the underside of my hand.

However, with BTF rings, that never happens. This is because there are motifs on both sides of the shank (the round loop of the ring). This actually gives it more balance so the ring does not fall off. The motifs on both sides also prevent it from flipping over. It is very comfortable, and I actually find BTF rings more comfortable than wide shank closed rings (a lot of my closed rings have a wide shank).

I am in love with BTF rings. I hope you will love them too! Hope this helps.

I finally decided on my size, the 53!
What drama... I went back and forth with the 52 and 53 for two days, splitting hairs on fit.
The 52 fit me great now, winter, but I know it will be a bit snug in the summer.
The 53 fit me loose now, but I know it will be perfect in the summer and not snug.
I also compared the fit of my Frivole, and the 53 fit more like my Frivole.

Hence I went with the 53. The yellow sapphire in only available 52. The 53 was pink sapphire, so I sent them both back and ordered a 53 in yellow sapphire.

@chromemilou
I know you are also deciding on size. As FYI... the Frivole and Butterfly rings do not fit the same. Frivole is looser. The reason is Frivole is more an open ring, about 30% open. Butterfly is a bit more closed, only about 20% open. I have big knuckles, and the knuckles are my issue. I like rings to slide right over, and with the butterfly slight more closed, for me, it fit more like a closed ring which I am a size 53 (e.g. Lotus). If I did not have big knuckles, the 52 would be perfect. Order both sizes to be sure, especially if you have big knuckles like me.

Oh... one more thought to share... I still love love love my WG Frivole BTF ring over the butterfly. The Frivole is the bomb to me.
I would get the Frivole if I were you. It's a super gorgeous ring!

For kicks, I made a flower garden with butterflies buzzing around.

No, I didn't take a photo of the pink butterfly ring. I regret that I did not take more mod shots, but I wanted to pack them up and get the pieces back to my SA (another client is waiting to buy the 52 yellow sapphire if I decided not to).

When I tried on the pink sapphire the very first time, I did not like it at all. I felt it was too pale pink, it did not pop, and the RG metal against the pink sapphires made the butterfly look copper.

Then, after going back and forth on the yellow vs pink for sizing, my husband out of the blue said "you should get that pink one too... it's classy." I am like "what, so the yellow one is trashy?"

He really loves the pink because it is very soft and feminine. He then said, "but I know, you don't like soft, so just get the yellow."

I do see his point, so now I see the pink butterfly in a different light. It is a very pretty feminine look.

You know that is my one gripe about the pink sapphire butterfly ring. It's not a dealbreaker and it'll prob look fine in person, but I don't like how they used RG on the pink sapphire butterfly and WG on the diamond butterfly. I wish they had done both butterflies in WG for a more uniform look.

On your ring size... if you have slightly big knuckles like me, I think yes, your estimates are correct.
If your fingers are slender (no fat knuckles... see my fat knuckles in photo), then you may even want to do a 50 in Frivole and 51 in Butterfly.

My perfect size for a fully closed ring is a 52.5. That does not exist in VCA, so I ended up with:
Lotus: 53
Frivole BTF: 52
Butterfly: 53

If you want to split hairs, with my 52.5 perfect size, the rings still fit slightly slightly different (we are really splitting hairs now, splitting atoms!)
Lotus is the loosest (without the busy flowers, that ring will surely fall off my finger).
Frivole 52 fits slightly larger than butterfly 53! We are splitting hairs here, and it's only a tiny tiny tiny bit larger, but it's the 52 that is larger, and it is due to the open gap.

But...
If you put the Frivole ring on a mandrel, it is the smallest of all three of my rings. You cannot go by the mandrel for Frivole and Butterfly as they are open rings. You can see I was really splitting hairs and torn on what size!

By the way, if you wear a lot of rings and are picky on sizing, I would suggest getting a mandrel if you do not already have one. I find it very useful.

You will have fun trying on sizes. Just get a bunch of Frivoles and butterflies and try them for fit first. Also pay attention to the opening of Frivole and Butterfly to see the difference.

Once you decide on your ring size, you can then decide on which ring and variation you want.
Keep us posted and post photos if you can!

I think that totally makes sense. If it’s too loose just use a plastic coil. That will take care of it.

Your comments give me a lot food for thought. I’ve been wanting the frivole btf pave ring for years but have never pulled the trigger bc my fingers are small and VCA does not usually stock my size so I would need to order it. While my SA assured me that I am not obligated to buy if it doesn’t fit, I’m still hesitant as I don’t like wasting anyone’s time. What are your thoughts on wearing it on index finger? I think for this particular style I will prefer it on my ring finger. I normally wear my wedding set on left hand and ring on my right index finger. I’m also considering the neoud, which is also not available to try on in my size. Thanks in advance for any feedback

Hi! If you have been wanting the Frivole BTF pave ring, don't hesitate! Order one!
I think you know by now, it is my favorite VCA ring. It's super blingy, super glamorous, and super versatile.

On your ring size, this is what I would suggest...
- Get a baseline on VCA ring sizes. First, try on any VCA ring in your estimated sizes. Try on closed rings and open rings if you can. They do not have to be Frivole, see if you can try on any BTF ring to get a feel. This is to help you with peace of mind you are in the correct range. If your ring size is super small though like a size 42, that may not be possible. I think rings on the far end of the sizes (small and large) need to be ordered given limited demand.
- Then, order the two rings sizes you think you need. I always try on two sizes so I do not second guess myself. These rings cannot be resized as you know.
- If you cannot or feel odd ordering two rings at the same time, order the smaller one first. Why?
Loose rings always "feel great" when trying them on because they are loose. For me, this means if you order the looser ring first, it doesn't really help with the process of elimination. That's why I suggest ordering the smaller ring first. If that's a bit snug for you and you are not sure, you will know to go back and order the larger one.

When trying ring sizes, I always like to try on the size that does NOT fit for peace of mind. I then know for sure the next size up is what I need. I always do this with clothes too. Jeans is a great example. Loose jeans always fit and can work, but if you try on the size that is too tight, you for sure know it will not work. Hence, you know the next size up is what you need.

On what finger...
Everyone wears rings differently, but I can share my thoughts.
For rings with a beautiful design such as Frivole, I prefer them on ring finger or middle finger. Why?

Because the ring is the star when it lays centered/off centered on your hands. The hand become the "base" to "present" the gorgeous design in its full beauty.

An analogy is little ring bearer pillow used in a wedding. The little ring bearer pillow is to "present" the ring (whether ir be the actual ring or symbolic). The ring is centered, there is no mistake, the ring is the star. Think of the pillow as your hand. If the ring was on the edge of the pillow, it would not be the same effect to me.

For Frivole on the ring finger...
I feel Frivole worn on the ring finger loses it's glamour. The look is now more eclectic, bohemian, edgey. I do not like that the beautiful flowers are now half on the hand and half just hanging off the finger, sticking out. The ring to me is no longer the star on your hand because it is now on the side. I also think now the eye sees too much hand because the middle and fourth fingers are so bare (e.g. where's the ring?!)

Staying with the wedding ring bearer pillow analogy, it would be like presenting the Frivole ring on the edge of the ring bearer pillow. I think that glamorous look is lost; it's now eclectic. So think of what your look. How one wears jewelry is 100% preference depending on their fashion look.

A thought for you on which finger...
Try this ring on your middle finger and see how you like it. Pick any size Frivole ring as the size of the flowers are the same on all ring sizes. I think this ring would look gorgeous on your middle finger. It would be like a garden of flowers sitting on top of your hand, so so beautiful to me.

If I may share my thoughts on your comment about wasting your SAs time..
You are not wasting your SAs time. SAs are here to help you, and SAs are in this job to make a sale.
This ring is not the typical Alhambra pendant or 5 motif bracelet purchase. This is a good size purchase, so your SA will be very glad to help you to make this sale to help her quota.

To make you feel better about ordering and to put it in perspective...
My SA told me the Alhambra pendant is a very popular item due to the entry level price point average of $3K. The Frivole pave BTF averages $24K. This means your SA needs to sell EIGHT Alhambra pendants to equal selling just one Frivole pave BTF ring. She would love to help you and sell you this ring.

Many pieces need to be ordered these days, so whether she is ordering a $3K pendant or a $24K ring, the effort for her is the exact same (type the order in the computer, it takes only a few minutes).

With this ring, she is now closer to hitting her sales quota. I keep bringing up her sales quota to put in perspective sales is what drives a SA. SAs are here to sell and make their quota. This is why SAs want to help you buy.

All SAs ask is that you be kind, not demanding, nor act entitled. You definitely sound like you are super super kind and courteous. Who would not want you as a client?! A client wanting to buy a $24K Frivole ring!

So, I vote order the ring!

Yikes, sorry for the long post. This just my two cents, maybe five cents!
I hope this helps. I am certain you will love this ring! Good luck and post photos if you wish.

I'm slow, but I did finally come around. You, and all the others who have the butterfly ring finally convinced me with the fabulous modshots. My husband used the same word as you when he saw it. He knows my hesitation with the ring looking wimpy.

When he saw the ring, he said "it's whimsical, not wimpy."

Thank you so much for your thoughtful response! My ring size for right ring finger and left index, middle and ring fingers is 46 or 47. My right index is 49 or 50 so my thought was to get it in the smaller size that would fit more fingers and therefore, be more versatile. Your idea of eliminating the too tight makes a lot of sense and something I did not think about before. I have a couple of rings that are just a smidge loser than I would like and I would definitely want to avoid that with the frivole. Congratulations on your new acquisition! Very stunning addition to your collection!

Hehe I agree with your husband’s line of thinking  I am so happy we are sisters on this amazing ring @BigAkoya
Now you need the matching earrings, my fellow matchy-matchy lover:graucho:
