Hi there, did you ever get to the bottom of the non leather smell on the puzzle bag? I got a soft grained one and I notice the same thing that there is no leather smell at all. It came from Loewe.com so I assume it has to be but it’s a bit unnerving not being able to smell leather for the price of it!!

Loewe small grained calf puzzles have wonderful leather aroma.Those are unmistakably Loewe quality. I don’t doubt your have some of that as well! Loewe as a company are changing. May be they are treating their leather more and more as Chanel does.
As for my question addressed here last year I did indeed figure out what my issue was. I haven’t shared it here before but here it is: I had purchased a small black smooth calf puzzle from Bergdorf online in 2021. It took over 3 weeks to get it. Got it eventually shipped from NM distribution center somewhere in Dallas. What I got was an unexciting little black bag I barely wore. No new smell, certainly no leather smell. BTW my dustbag that had an unusual amount of fraying inside. Didn’t think much of it. Something made me not like the bag. I thought I chose the wrong color.
A year later I happened to see an authentication thread here and realized some things were off with my black bag. ( I also bought my first small puzzle in grained leather and LOVED everything about it). The super fakes images in black looked suspiciously similar to my bag. The puzzle lines sitting too close to each other, some q-s with the labels/font. I decided to get it authenticated.
It is then I asked about the “ leather smell “ on this platform. I and (my husband ) soon drove to my local NM wearing my small black puzzle and compared it carefully with the floor sample. Theirs was clearly a nice smooth calf leather puzzle, mine.. I don’t know what it was but it wasn’t LOEWE. It was a pleather like material almost identical to Loewe leather puzzle though. VERY CLOSE but still badly off when next to NM Loewe black smooth puzzle.
I saw enough discrepancies to know I HAD TO get it authenticated and take it up with my CC but then one of the sales ladies was kind enough to ask some q-s…
She spoke to her manager and my local NM EXCHANGED my “whatever it was” bag with the one I was inspecting. I got a brand new perfect LOEWE black small puzzle over a year after my purchase. Same price. She said they would exchange as a curtesy as “I wasn’t satisfied with the quality of the bag”.
I asked them for nothing! I am very thankful to NM for that exchange. My new smooth puzzle never had a leather scent but a nice brand new leather accessory scent. Now it doesn’t have a leather smell unlike my grained puzzles but the sheen and smoothness of Loewe leather are making me very happy. I don’t want to put it down and whether it smells of leather or not I know an authentic puzzle when I see one.
P.S. None of my LOEWE dust bags have any fraying inside unlike that first one. They are cleanly stitched inside.
