So happy with my new Frivole pave ring! It’s my first piece from the Frivole line and I love it so much. I had kind of written off Frivole in general as too dainty/ girly and whilst beautiful on others, I wasn’t sure it would suit me. However this piece has real presence and is just so unbelievably beautiful, I am now a Frivole convert! I don’t think pictures do it justice!

Yay! Welcome to the frivole club! It looks fabulous on your hand. I love wearing mine…it captures all the sparkles. Enjoy!

A bit of story time for my reveals!

I've had another 5 motif bracelet on my next VCA wishlist for a while - I have the carnelian and guilloche one which I love but I find myself babying it a lot because I'm worried my Cartier love bracelet (which I wear 24/7) will cross it and scratch the guilloche, and hence wanted another one I can wear more carefree.

I've been thinking about blue agate because I have the vendome blue sevres and felt that a darker blue would go well with it. Almost ordered it at my home store in January but decided to be disciplined and spread out my purchases because I had made too many LV Murakami orders!

Some time later I was at the boutique with DH. As expected they didn't have any agate 5 motifs but they had the pendant (in a nice sky blue) which I used to hold to my hand to see how the colour works with my skintone and DH was not a fan. Realised I don't have photos. I also tried on onyx since they had it in stock and surprisingly it went really well with my light skin tone - I never considered it before. And so I decided to wait for my Japan trip to try to hunt for the 5 motif onyx because it would have been cheaper, and much less of a hassle for tax refunds.

In that time, the "blue agate fading" thread started which made me think, okay, it's a sign, maybe I should go with onyx.

My Japan trip finally came and on my first day in Tokyo I had appointments booked both at the Ginza Maison and Ginza Six in the afternoon. It was raining from the morning, and after having a discouraging visit to a coffee cafe (long queue and in the rain, with wet sneakers) we decided to head to a department store which is the best place to spend a rainy day! And of course it was Ginza Mitsukoshi and the first thing I wanted to do was go to VCA 😂 managed to walk right in about 30min after opening time after all the stories I read about Tokyo VCA being super crowded. I asked about 5 motifs, in agate, onyx. "Agate, no, onyx... We had one yesterday, let me check if we still have it"

And lo and behold she brought it out... I had a dilemma on whether I should risk it and buy it at Ginza Maison just because it's the Maison and also I would have gotten 1.45% more in tax refund (the department store takes a cut). But after some deliberation, I went for it! Didn't want to risk it not being available later.

On a regular basis I don't think I'll wear the sweet carnelian with the stack, it's a bit too much!
--

Okay, so I typed the above when I was queueing at Goyard for an hour in Tokyo and had nothing else to do (I ended up not getting anything), but since I came back I've been slammed at work and too tired to type a continuation to the story 😂 here's a shorter summary..

I still went for my 2 other VCA appointments and saw some really gorgeous stuff, the magic guilloche pendant was REALLY gorgeous but I didn't get it because it's not like shopping at the supermarket, and also the overall effect is slightly similar to my hammered 10 motif.

And this.. aah! I have RG mirror Frivole earrings so if I ever get the ring I'd want it in RG not YG (this is YG).

Oh and I was also looking for the Ginza LE magic MOP pendant but alas they had none.

That night I heard of the pending price increase, and the next day the SA at Ginza Six told me she sourced the last pair of BA earrings in Japan for me, and I couldn't pass it up.. I admit it was a PI influenced buy, but look at that blue!

1000156988.webp

Ideally I would have wanted a darker blue, but the next day I wore a denim skirt and the blue went perfectly 😇

This is why I would have wanted a darker blue (the sevres blue is not as dark when worn on the skin, it looks especially dark because of the black box), but, they are both blue so I guess they still go well together 😂

I love when people do story time! Thank you for sharing! Your photos are lovely. Congratulations on your new items! I like your stack even with the carnelian. I don’t think it’s too much. The shade of your earrings is enviable. I adore that shade of blue. Enjoy in good health!

Yes I would have bought the Ginza edition for sure, I was looking for it! I have the Vendome and Prince edition already so I need to add to my collection. Sadly they may discontinue the Ginza edition after the current boutique closes in June (it's moving but SA heard it won't reopen as a Maison).

I'll get a BTF ring one day!!

Its gorgeous though! Wishlist wishlist maybe.

And this..

Thanks for letting me share and thank you for reading all the way if you did! ♥️

Congratulations! They're meant to be

Congratulations on your Tokyo purchases @rikkuex - I loved reading your story, and it brought great memories of my Japan trip. You got some lovely pieces (we're Tokyo Onyx buddies!!! ooo and also 10-motif hammered buddies! LOL) and I'm sure you will wear these with the fond memories of your Nippon trip. I met a nice SA in Mitsukoshi as well during my first trip last year.

Out of curiosity, did the Ginza Maison end up having stock of the 5-motif onyx when you went for your appointment? Or did you not bother asking at that point?

Thank you @Prada Prince ! I loved seeing all your adventures too, it got me excited for my trip 😂 and glad you had a blast! And yes, we are triplets if you add the sweet 6 motif hammered bracelet HAHA

The Ginza Maison had one 5 motif onyx earlier in the day but it "sold immediately" (I was there at 3pm). Ginza Six on the other hand still had 2 bracelets at 5.30pm. Ginza Six seemed better stocked in general, they had the WG guilloche 5 motif as well (which the Maison didn't have), along with WMOP, onyx, carnelian for earrings and 5 motifs.

You made the right decision then, fellow triplet LOL! No point waiting for the Maison appointment when you get to secure the piece of your dreams.

I had a similar experience with Goyard in Japan. I originally wanted to wait for Tokyo (which was daft, as none of the Goyard boutiques in Japan are standalone boutiques anyway), but I'm glad I pulled the trigger in Kyoto, as the piece I wanted in the colour I wanted ended up only being available in Kyoto during my trip.

Anyway, I digress. Congratulations again on your pieces, and I hope you wear them in the best of health and happiness!

Wonderful story with a happy ending! Congratulations on your beautiful new pieces!

Congratulations! Now you need the earrings....
Haha yes perhaps! I am not particularly matchy matchy with my jewellery, with the exception of matching something from the same line but a different material (for example a TE 10 motif with a hammered or MoP 5). I am also incredibly lazy with earrings and generally just always wear diamond studs.
However…. I have already made the mistake of holding the ring up to my ear and wow! I can imagine frivole earrings whether pave or mirror finish could look amazing and really light up the face.
Definitely something to think about and maybe add to the never ending wish list!
