I like this one. Looks like something from a museum :) I would be willing to pay $50 for it and use it to keep old news paper in it.

Love this description!

From ebay:
"Pre-owned AUTHENTIC 50cm Hermes Birkin bag

Dimensions: 19" x 16" x 10" Handles 7" high

VERY used. But in usable condition, everyone loves this bag Andre Tally of Vogue, when he saw it screamed and said it was the most beauful bag he'd ever seen.

This bag has a torn closure strap but this can be repaired."

1940s HAC - what adventures she has seen!

"This beautiful old travel bag is truly testament of time to the quality and craftsmanship that is put into every single hand made piece produced by Hermes. This travel bag was obviously used by its originally purchaser / owner and was not purchased with the intent of it becoming a closet queen or shelf trophy. It was purchased by its original owner to be used for the soul purpose that its original designer at Hermes had envisioned and if you don't mind me adding a personal note I feel that it has survived these past 70 plus years of its travel life quite well! The leather is still soft and pliable but it does of course show signs of normal usage / age ware. There is one upper corner section on the one side panel where the retaining belt goes through that apparently had a split in the leather which was repaired at one time which looks as though it might need to be re-done by someone skilled in repairing antique leather. Additionally there is one smaller 1" long vertical ware hole in the one lower corner of the one side panel which has not been repaired as of yet but could also quite easily be repaired by someone skilled in leather repair if desired. Please note that neither of the above mentioned minor flaws effect the functionality or integrity of the bag in any way. The leather handles are fully in tact and are still 100% functional as well. There are no loose threads to be found anywhere on the bag and all nine of the original metal feet are still present on the bottom of the bag as well. There are a few additional smaller 1/4" splits in the upper edges of the side panel bellows which can be seen in the attached pictures as well. When one takes into consideration the age of this rare piece and the fact that it was actually used by its original owner it would truly have to be stated as being in over all remarkable condition for its age."

I don't know if even docride could save this one. The dry rot looks pretty bad.

OK, apologies if this bag belongs to a fellow tPFer but it caught my attention.
It's described as vintage but also as having "normal wear". Check it out : Indigo Market Bag.

Mod note: hootie hoo, its CB here....Louch alerted me to this bag and I just want to say that yes, this MB could certainly use a spa treatment STAT, but at this price point, this bag is a nice find and has a lot of life left. I think this may be gulliver or evergrain..I am stumped...but I am going to post in the Finds thread as well. Happy Shopping
