I no so that's y i didn't buy iy. I got offered at the same time that i purchased my Kelly 32 bougainvillea
I travel some and usually stop at Hermes. We've been offered 3 Birkins and 2 Kellys in the past year. This is with all the SAs knowing that we are from out of town and not VVIPs.
We were in Dallas a few weeks ago and had a new SA. We asked about Birkins and Kellys and he said that they had tons of black Kellys in the back. He also said that they had Lindys in every color, and also one croc... The next day we visited the same store and had a different SA. "No Kellys, Birkins, or Lindys" is what he said.
I hope you're lucky enough to score a Birkin. If not, stay persistent and one will show up.

Actually, it is pretty easy to get a birkin in hawaii if you purchase their ugly ready-to-wear, with the cheapest blouse costing 2k USD. Their rationale? Everybody comes into the store asking for birkin. But nobody buys their ready-to-wear. So what they have decided to do is to sell the birkins to customers who purchase the ready-to-wear, which is what i was forced to do. They call this "establishing a relationship with the store". I purchased two shoulder birkins this month that way. The birkins werent under a single purchase. The first shoulder came a week before the 2nd shoulder birkin, which i purchased 2 days ago. There were 3 regular birkins that they didnt display, the manager told me she could only sell them to me if i purchase more clothes. The colors available were gold, etoupe and chocolate. There was also a crocodile skinned kelley in electric blue (the latest fall 2011 color!) as of 2 days ago. Electric blue is just gorgeous! But i cant guarantee the bags will still be there by the end of this week. Too many Japanese tourists coming to hunt for birkins.
I think I better stop dreaming about getting a Kelly or Birkin from the store. This is shame on the company to force customers to buy what they don't like to get what they like. Yes, I like Birkin and Kelly bags, but I am not going to waste a dime for this company to buy useless stuffs !
I don't think the original intention was to force customer. Maybe some store just abused it. I think they only want to offer birkin to Hermes loyal customer. They don't want to sell to people only like birkin. And loyal customer will buy RTW and all kind of stuff because they love the brand. So it wasnt meant to be force.
Not everyone can afford everything at Hermes, as a purse lover, I only interested in buying purse, but I do not necessary want to spent couple hundred or thousands on the RTW. We all love Hermes, but should not been forced to buy All Other stuff to show being a loyal customer.
