hey ladies,

I'm new to this forum too, will be heading to San Francisco, any chance I might score a birkin there? any personal experience and most importantly, any nice SA to refer to?

thanks in advance for the advice! :D

Boston may be your best bet. Half the time I walk in there a birkin is sitting in the display case on the right behind the silks. They seem to have a few...and gold HW too! Best wishes!

thanks! hopefully my mom will get lucky. :) I can't believe this study trip is turning into "get my mom a birkin mission"!

hi, i'd say make it a point to try your luck at the madison and wall street stores in nyc. i got a phone call from a super excited friend about two months ago saying she walked into the madison store, asked if they had birkins, and walked out with a beautiful mykonos! dreams do come true, and it boils down to persistence and a little (well, a lot of) good luck.

i will try all new york, boston and washington. :)

Skip the Tysons store if that is the Washington to which you will be near. They have zip, zilch in the way of birkins. And I'm betting they'd look at you cross-sided if you even asked if they had one. So sad to say it would be a waste of gas, time and energy and hope to drop in.

May your luck be with you in NY! It seems I've read that Hawaii and perhaps Florida has better odds.

And here's the question for those way more experienced than I -- why can't any store that in the franchise pull in a purse from somewhere else as long as it is not being held for a customer? If there is a sale, there is a sale -- who cares where that sale is.

I totally agree! Not only you're helping customers, this will increase sales much more quicker and more efficiently!

Does anyone know how when to go in the Madison store? Like will the store put out new birkin bags in the middle of day? or beginning of its opening hours? or it's random? HELP!!!!

The Tysons (Washington DC) boutique may just have a Birkin in stock. You never know. As my beloved SA tells me, "timing is everything." Also, you will be near Chevy Chase, MD. The Neiman Marcus Hermes Boutique has been known to sell the occasional Birkin and Kelly.

It's very unkind to make a statement that Tysons would be cruel to the client.

If you like, I'm on good terms with the team in Tysons, VA (Washington) and I can put you in touch with two very good SAs at Neiman Marcus at Chevy Chase. I'm sure you wouldn't be laughed away from the store for asking for a Birkin. My first Birkin happened to be sitting in the display case when I bought it. Anything can happen. It is the luck of the draw.

I'll be staying at american university when I'm at washington... Will it be far away?

You will be a subway ride to Neiman Marcus in Chevy Chase.
Tysons Corner is in Virginia and I'm not sure how to get there from AU. Here is the website for the Washington transportation system. http://www.wmata.com/
It's been many years since I used the subway! Mass transit in your three cities are remarkable. Again, if I (a nobody) can be of any help to you in my part of the world, please feel free to PM me.

That birkin on the shelf that you purchased at the boutique was 2 years ago at least. Since then 45 plus stores have opened and as others have reported there are less and less birkins and kellys available. The only purses I have seen on the shelves are non-b's and k's.

In the past year, I've been fortunate enough to be offered four birkins (Pink 35 w/GHW, Rouge H 30 with GHW, Violet 30 w/GHW and 30 Mykonos Eclat) at Tysons.

I agree with BBL. I got my SO black birkin in NYC--and it was being in the right place at the right time. In my experience, the Tysons store staff is first rate, too. If they have it, they'll show it to you. I can recommend some SAs there (and Madison Avenue) too. Perhaps you can call ahead of time.
