I am running super behind on this thread because I was out of town all weekend. No prayer of catching up, but it looks like Feather week is off to a super start!

Thursday wearing Le Monde est Vast. The deep grays of Le Monde went really well with my long cardigan, as well as with the etoupe Bolide.

I spent the weekend in Louisiana, which I wrote about at length here. A little Scarf on Site action with Aux Pays du Epices

I usually don't nickname my things, but this is one exception. I call it my "gumbo" scarf, because it's the perfect color for roux. Here's me having a bowl of gumbo while wearing "gumbo" in Lake Charles last week. (And mercifully didn't get any gumbo on gumbo!!!!)

Oh my - this is making me really hungry for gumbo on a cold rainy day! Only ONE mousseline? MP in mousseline flew out of our store so I only got to try on one. Now I regret that it didnt come home with me.sigh.

Beautiful feathers all around.
Bostonjetset, your scarf is a beauty, especially in these colors and I adore all the horse vignettes.
Lanit, what a plethora of cool feathers. The jacquard Daimyo is spectacular.
Croisette, plumes is most charming and a design I have only recently come to appreciate so much ( thanks to your postings).
TangoTosca, I love your look with La Monde but all ensembles are great. Cool boots, too.
Pirula, you have outdone yourself with all these spectacular scarves and knots.
If I missed anybody I am sorry.

Thank you dear Maedi!!!!

Thank you for sharing your great pics TangoTosca! The soup looks really hot and spicy!

Pretty, Pirula!

BJS, yes you are right. It's a beautiful vintage!

Amazing!

Thank you dear. I assume we will see you PetF during feather week as well? :)
I love the colors of your Brazil MT btw.!! Lovely!

Sweet! I love these rarities. Your collex is so interesting!

Thanks Moma!!!
My collection is quite modest compared to many of the lovely TPFers on this thread but I'm working on it. I'm always on the hunt!

Some feathers:
Plumes et grelots
and
Fetes du roi soleil

Both are lovely!

My SOTD had fans of feathers to my surprise: Les Parures du Vent.

More feathers from Marwari, Caraibes, Kachinas and Couvees.

And just for a lark, a mother of pearl carving with a phoenix, a bone cameo of a lady with a plumed hat, and the set of kingfisher feather jewellery which I wore for my wedding, displayed on a dark green top bought for a song in a Taipei market (puns all intended :p)

Great collection of feathers [scarves and otherwise!)

Always point on, always GORGEOUS, that's YOU TangoTosca[emoji7][emoji7]....hope ur trip was amazing[emoji173]️

So pretty Bostonjetset! I love it [emoji173]️[emoji173]️

Thank you dear! And your FP is a stunning colorway!

Ramage in action... Original and rare scarf!

Very nice, Chris.

BJS, we think more and more alike -- or I'm discovering that we think alike! I too believe in well-rounded collections and love some of the the old patterns even when they don't come pristine out of the wash. This is really interesting -- how about a mod shot when you get around to it?

I believe I have posted a mod shot with this before but it may have been a long time ago so I will either take a new one or post the archive pic when I get home :D

I must admit that another of my strange character traits is that I prefer the stiffness of the 90s to the "vintage" feel of the 70s when new. However, a TRUE vintage scarf that has been broken in with years of use really does feel so special on the skin. The softness is unbelievable.

Kyokei can you post that hippopolis flat and tell me what cw it is? I see you like deep aubergine or plummy-colored HS so do I.

Hi, Eagle -- H seems to have done a whole series of aubergine/deep blue/violet/turquoise colorways this year. These shades are called "Chiaroscuro" and there is a section in the scarf booklet with Sieste on the cover. I ended up with a CdC CSGM, a Chasse en Inde MT, and a couple of gavroches -- I can't resist dark scarves!

It would be wonderful if the scarf booklet is scanned by tPF because in the move from Tysons VA to the City Center, DC I kinda lost touch with my local boutique and never got a new booklet. (Not a big fan of that move).

That said, if you could elaborate on what those Chiaroscuro HS are and their cws it would be so helpful, ABQ2ATL. I know this is a busy time of year so whatever you could elaborate would be wonderful. I love the darker HS too as I think they are sophisticated compared with perky brights (Spinnakers being a particular nightmarish memory for me in that regard). I have to choose HS with much more selectivity at this stage compared with a decade ago as I have fewer opportunities to wear them and it's uneconomic to merrily offload them on ebay. So I want to buy keepers.

Thank you so much for finding this! The explanation is even cooler than I expected . I added this to my thread so that I'll always be able to easily find it.

You're a darling lady, and I'm so happy your first week as Silky Mistress is off to a wonderful start! :smooch:

Thank you, TT! Glad you liked my Skyros info -- and looky here, I found a Dallet hoopoe!

There are loads of birds on this Africa scarf, so I'll settle for Crane feathers...

Sorry if I wasn't clear about the chiaroscuro colorway, Eagle -- it's not a particular scarf design, just a dark cw in several of the scarves this season. Look on the website and search by dark colors (e.g. violet) and you'll see some dark patterns. The cw numbers are all over the place so that's no help.

Look at the range of cws in Sieste au Paradise -- the darkest one (06) is a chiaroscuro, so is Hippopolis (03) and Zenobie (15) and Collections Imperiale (16) and Chasse en Inde (02) in the MT. Once you see a few, they're easy to spot.

Here's a link to the chiaroscuro color theme on the UK site: http://m.uk.hermes.com/la-maison-des-carres/imdammerlicht.html
I don't know why it's not on the US site any more, maybe just too confusing.
