Dear ABQ, thank you for this brilliant introduction which I found very interesting and informative, I have just read the interview with Alice Shirley which was fascinating. I follow her on Instagram. Now off to view the Wall St journal piece. It is very important for Husband Budgetary Committee Appeals that I can plead educational/cultural/artistic benefits of Hermès scarf acquisitions, not just buying lovely lovely pretty shiny things...;)

I agree with you. The knowledge about the scarves I learned (and am still learning) from these elegant tpfers is priceless. And I truly believe that I'm traveling around the world culturally with the H scarves. I feel like the more I know about the background of the scarves, the better value I get from the scarves. I really appreciate how people are sharing what they know here. It makes it so much more than just wearing a pretty scarf.

Thank you ABQ for the introduction and all lovely tpfers that share the info about the artists here.

La Madison des Carrés by Pierre Marie. This scarf is my workhorse. Along with the light-colored ELeK, these 2 are my grab-and-go scarves when I'm in a hurry. And the 2 softest ones now due to the frequent usage.

Cabala, this is such a lovely colorway on you. I've not seen it before on the us site. May I ask what colorway it is? I love the contrasting hem. Your green top complements it so well!

Another example of the incredible detail Pierre Marie includes: (this from the little H scarf book) The "invisible forces of nature" have inspired Pierre Marie this composition as seductive as complex. In the eighteenth century the German physicist Ernst Chladni Florens Friedrich, creator of a musical instrument named Euphone, and author of an acoustic Treaty, undertook a singular experience. He took a copper disc, sand sprinkled and rubbed the edge using a bow. The vibration plate made this a musical instrument and the sound was accompanied by a surprising reaction: the sand was organized in geometric figures, component true pictures. They were named acoustic Chladni figures. "Judge of my astonishment at seeing that nobody had yet seen,” he said. He described a star with ten or twelve rays. Pierre Marie gives us his vision of this sound geometry.

Soie Libre "free silk" (my story, not from a scarf book -- notice the Belle de Mexique skirt at the top right) A cartoon tale of a girl letting go of a scarf that is carried away by a sea bird, which then drops it in the ocean, where a boy tries to catch it and falls into the water. He is rescued and carried to the surface by fish, then grabs the scarf, which carries him aloft where he sees an island of horses. As he floats down onto the back of a horse, he lets the scarf go to fly away again.

Wow, ABQ2ATL, I am in love with Soie Libre. I adore silks with stories/intricate montages, like Le Potager Extraordinaire (a Pierre Marie) and which is why I am drawn to Annie Faivre and Christine Henry designs too. What year is Soie Libre from?

Fabulous styling!
Not to step on mistress's toes but I did think up a few other "rising star new artists" that hopefully we will see some more of over the coming years:
Anamorphee team
Benoit Pierre Emery
Cyrille Diatkine
Florence Manlik
Nigel Peake
Saw Kang
and how can we forget Daisuke Nomura; the mastermind behind CLF and Caducee Rock!!

AND another "orphan" designer": Ding Yi who designed the lovely "Rhythm of China"

This is such a lovely design! Looks great on you!
It seems dear Melora has disappeared once again so maybe she will see this and chime in!

How about Kiraz? I can only find Les Parisiennes.

Thank you dear! You look always so lovely!

Thank you Croisette! A little H always perks me up!

It's been a very trying week with lots of deadlines every day, so I've been off-theme most days wearing bright colours to cheer myself up. Same drape every day because I don't have the bandwidth to experiment with knots (and the weather has been cool so I need some warmth!). Temari last Friday, MP on Monday, and finally on-theme today with Versailles.

Love this on you and especially the way you tied it, @cavalla. Thank you for sharing!

I agree with you. The knowledge about the scarves I learned (and am still learning) from these elegant tpfers is priceless. And I truly believe that I'm traveling around the world culturally with the H scarves. I feel like the more I know about the background of the scarves, the better value I get from the scarves. Thank you ABQ for the introduction and all lovely tpfers that share the info about the artists here.

So so true. This thread is priceless! :hbeat:

What a wonderful insight! I feel the same way -- the scarves with the stories that resonate with me are often the ones I pick. They're not just pretty silks! ;)
